the brooms lined up against the wall. bristles resplendant. the brooms dancing like in fantasia. the brooms used to sweep up peanut shells on the floors of bars. the brooms used to shoo away misbehaving dogs and children, mice. the brooms the aprons the rubber gloves the detergent the houses the windows the blinds the TV the shoes the stereo the carpet the rug the door the mailbox the oil painting hanging on the wall the wall the chairs the pillows the washing machine the wood floor the shelves the books the car the flowers the grass the concrete the closet the clothing the bricks the trashcan. a box of new blue jeans stolen from the factory by a young boy in a gingham dress. cars that wont start having rusty conversations. at the gas station, at the resturaunt, at the school, at the church. you can't beat city hall.
