Following on from successful shows in Melbourne and Adelaide last year and a series of always compelling, sometimes hilarious gigs in hometown Brisbane, Brother Man Dude has sold out of limited runs of his first 2 solo albums (“Punishment to Fit the Crime” and “The Holy and the Lowly”) on quirky Adelaide label Salvage Music and is gearing up for the release of FAME and INFAMY, a twin CD Song Writing Retrospective. It compiles all the best from his various bands and projects over the last 15 years. Each CD represents a different side of the Brother Man Dude coin----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
FAME is pop music and a desire to be taken seriously (Heads). Flip the coin over and INFAMY is humour and a desperate need to be noticed (Tails). Fame or Infamy. Make your call. Heads or Tails. Is this a joke? Call Tails for Infamy! Are you serious? Call Heads for Fame.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In his current incarnation as Brother Man Dude and formerly as songwriter in Adelaide-based bands such as The Moonies, Dream Wake Dream and The Old Timers he has been featured on play-list charts on 3RRR, 3PBS and FBI, been nominated for a SAMIA Award and had albums made feature releases on 3D Radio (Adel) and 2SER. He has also been played on JJJ and ABC-TV’s Rage.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Brother plays an idiosyncratic style of folk and country-tinged indie pop and has played on the bill in solo or band mode with such acts as Ice Cream Hands, The Underminers, Henry Wagons, Baron Field, Screamfeeder,Chris Dale (Mexico City) and Jacob S. Harris. Brother Man is a veteran of the live music scene in Brisbane and interstate where he has played such venues as The Rob Roy, The Pony, The Empress, The Old Bar (Melbourne), The Austral, The Grace Emily, The Exeter (Adelaide), The Troubadour, Ric’s Bar (Brisbane) as well as The Cad Factory (Sydney).------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
With the demeanour of an irreverent but authoritarian schoolmaster, He will take control of the room and lead the audience on a journey of enlightenment and self-discovery. Because the subject of his lessons is always himself, it is only natural for Brother Man Dude to talk about himself in the 3rd person.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
With his partner in crime, Sister Mother Lover, Brother whips the audience into submission with discipline that is tough, but always fair. His instructions after all are only to help you find spiritual nourishment and your way in life. e.g. “Brother Man Dude requires the audience to pay close attention now." Or “Brother Man Dude requires you to kneel before Him, put your hands together and repeat after Him………………………” --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
See Brother Man Dude live. He will take his cue from you. It’s about audience participation. Work out where to stand. Do you want serious music or novelty songs? Heads or Tails…Can’t decide? He’s happy to toss the coin. Serious music for Heads; a Novelty song for Tails.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It’s all about working Brother Man Dude out. Fame or Infamy. Make your call. Buy Fame or buy Infamy or just buy both - at gigs and selected record stores.

After the huge success of ROCK AGAINST CHICKS last year, Brother Man Dude has decided to put together the next ‘ROCK AGAINST…’ event while the momentum is on his side. Since the ‘ROCK AGAINST…’ series is really starting to get a name for itself, he has decided it’s time to really make a statement.
ROCK AGAINST CHICKS attracted a lot of attention because of its sensational and provocative undertones. Was it misogynistic? Was it sexually exploitative? It certainly attracted a crowd.
For this next event, Brother Man Dude is happy to ride that wave of publicity. But Rock Against Humour is different in a very significant way: It does not resort to cheap laughs and attention seeking tactics. This is the real thing. No joke.
ROCK AGAINST HUMOUR brings together bands and performers that put passion before professionalism. This does not mean they don’t mean business. Certainly they know how to have a laugh. After all when you’re dealing with weighty subject matter, man, you gotta break the tension somehow.
The evening will be compered by 4ZZZ personality Alex Oliver of Friday Night Drive fame. He will keep the audience on their toes and on task. It’s High Art; it’s challenging but it can be rewarding. So pay attention.
This is not just a night for drinking, partying and escapism.
Remember, it’s not a joke. Get serious.
Choose a position. Make a stand. Rock Against Humour.
Well hello there to the dude. I hope you are well with all and all is well. This Friday eve there happens to be the grandchild of plander, Columbia, performing a one man play interpreting the events of all fateful days everywhere ever within an hours timeframe. Should be alright I hear. It happens at Cafe Checocho in West End around 9. Dip not provided. Bring your own wonder and pillage at your own risk.
My dear son and his naughty band have released a fitting tribute to the end of George Bush's reign of terror with their animated filmclip George Bush's Chicken. Starring George W at home on the ranch with his muslem chicken Ned as well as guest appearances from some of his closest circle including Osama Bin Laden, Paris Hilton, Saddam Hussein, Barack Obama and Mr Ed, this is the behind the scenes insight the world has long waited for. I hope you enjoy it and are inspired to forward it to all your other friends in the last days of W’s war n terror.
