The major influences to our music are:
Jeff Lynne of the electric light orchestra (ELO) Mike Oldfied, Matchbox 20,
Coldplay, even (rock stuff( such as AC/DC, Deep Purple, Led Zep to name but a few.
Our music is quite varied as we both come from different musical backgrounds, it seems to work quite well in the studio...
Les played in various bands as a drummer in the 1950 and 1960's when he was in his late 40's (lol!)
After this Les moved to Tibet where he learnt all about the rudiments of drumming for the Dalai Lama - this he did until he was around 70...
I AM DEAD WHEN HE READS THIS... GOOD JOB HE IS ON HOLIDAY!!!!!! he is only 43...
Gavin, Played in local North West bands during the 80's, has been playing since June 1982.
First gig was May 1983 at School! He is self taught and his Major influences are:
Nick Rhodes, Michael McNeil (Simple Minds), Ian Curnow, Howard Jones, Martin Gore, and Synthesizers in general.
We hope you like what you hear and we will be uploading new tracks on a fairly regluar basis (hopefully!)
The Brown and Maxwell project came about as our eldest (and dearest!) daughters were at senior school together...
My daughter told me there was a dad at school with a recording studio... so Les & I got introduced and he became my new best friend! That was in 2003.
We started off as a bit of a hobbyist type thing, but soon realised that we 'had something' perhaps a bit more than that. So we moved all of our gear into one place and got some stuff done!
We have never pushed it with anyone but perhaps we will do maybe starting this year - We have approx 60-70 tracks at various stages of completion.
And the rest is history...
Keep listening and hopefully we can get some comments - GOOD OR BAD - keeps up on the ground and gives us some feedback!
Thanks
The Brown and Maxwell Project's Friend Space (Top 4)
Hi The Brown and Maxwell Project, thank you very much for the friendship. Great thing you doing here! We love it! Greetings from The Magic Orchestra- Tribute to E.L.O
Greetings Messrs Maxwell & Brown!! Al from Doghouse / The Bumpers here. Thanks for the comment you left after the Doghouse gig - very kind. I agree, two different styles of play. With the Bumpers it's all about feel - all played from the soul not the head. With Doghouse, or with any rock music I suppose, it's more of a script. Anyway, see you at a gig soon. Check the Bumpers Myspace for gig dates, and check the Doghouse website (www. doghouse-music. com) for their gig dates. Say hello next time you're at a gig. Cheers, Al
I still can't believe that you wrote that song and that you and your partner perform it so incredibly. It's so much better than most the stuff on the radio. You need to be writing, and or singing professionally. I too look forward to hearing more. Talk to you soon,
Whats new Gav, song is very impressive but have you got the x-factor? Time will tell! Seriously though im looking forward to hearing the remaining 70 odd tracks on here. Take it easy, your favourite work colleague...Liam
