Influences
Old timers like Hank Williams, Hank Thompson, Buck Owens and the Buckaroos, Ray Price, Gene O'Quin, Johnny Cash, Wynn Stewart, Webb Pierce, Merle Haggard, Johnny Horton, Lefty Frizzell, Little Jimmy Dickens, Earnest Tubb, Carl Smith, Faron Young, and Charlie Gore. Moon Mullican was great too.
There's a bunch of great modern-day traditional bands out there that we dig too, such as BR549, Big Sandy and His Fly Rite Boys, Deke Dickerson, Wayne Hancock, Hank III, The original Derailers, Dale Watson, The Lucky Stars, and the Hot Club of Cowtown. Can't get enough of that that hillbilly boogie beat!
The B-Stars formed in 2006 with the intention of stirring up the local and regional music scene with traditional country standards and whiskey-drenched originals. The current lineup features acoustic rhythm guitar, upright bass, pedal steel and electric guitars, a rollicking backbeat, and layered vocal harmonies.
The music? Well, you all can decide for yourself, you found us after all. We tend to think it's honky tonk, hillbilly swing, rockabilly, country AND western. You may have seen us open for national acts such as Big Sandy & His Fly-Rite Boys, Deke Dickerson, and The Mother Truckers, or when we shared the stage with many local and regional bands including 77 El Deora, Glen Earl Brown & the Dickens, The Sweet 'n' Lo's, Big B & His Snake Oil Saviors, and many others. Or maybe you have heard us on Steve Hathaway's radio show. If not, we hope to make your acquaintance here real soon! We make it our undisputed duty to warm up the San Francisco juke joints with a good ol' dose of vintage honky tonk and hillbilly swing that really gets the joint a-jumpin'. With original tunes that reckon back to the days of 78 and 45 RPM records, we will keep your toes tappin' and the boot heels clickin'. Support your local honky tonk!
New CD: RIPE - THE DIXIE BEE-LINERS' highly anticipated sophomore release, produced by Bil VornDick (Bob Dylan, Alison Krauss, Ralph Stanley) for Pinecastle Records, featuring the #1 single "Down on The Crooked Road."
