About Chillakaya

Chillakaya was formed from the members of former reggae bands Individually United and the Eyes of Reggae. Band members originate from Jacksonville Beach and St. Augustine, Florida. The band enjoys playing and creating original, high-energy roots and dancehall reggae music that keeps everyone on the dance floor moving. The band is made up of veterans of the NE Florida Reggae scene and is ready to explode onto the national scene.

Vocalist-Kemwa
Kemwa was born on the Island of Antigua, West Indies and has been singing reggae since he was six years old. Back home in the islands he was a singer for the Crystal Sound. Kemwa moved to Jacksonville in 1986 to further his musical career. His inspiration for music is Jr. Reid and other similar artists. Kemwa has a wicked dj style that fuels the fire for an awesome reggae experience.

Hey-Gotta Love Reggae- Been playing music for quite some time and this type of music has always totally appealed to me. Inspiration and good feelings is what this music means to me. I thorouhly enjoy watching people dancing to reggae-always brings good energy to the shows.

Bassist -Paul
Paul Trammell has been playing music nearly all his life and has been the bass player for many reggae bands in St. Augustine including Axum, The Credentials, Roots 1, and Individually United. Paul plays a fretless bass producing a unique expressive bass tone that "mesmerizes the audience with a reggae beat that seems to creep into every cell of the body" (Entertaining U newspaper).
