goodbye!
We're quickly becoming what industry people refer to as "professional." We practice. We worked hard on writing. And most of all...we want a van to call our own

Since the Bubblegum Complex released last year's full length Looking Down at Cloud Nine, a lot of things have changed for the band. They switched drummers, added a guitar player, and were rendered almost nonexistent after singer/guitarist Caldwell Dunlap suffered serious injuries in a Spinal Tap-like accident this past summer. Through all of this, they found time to go into the studio and record a new five song EP, Wonderkids.
Recorded by Dean Bratcher at No Budget Studios, Wonderkids is about as true of a representation of the band as you'll find. The first thing you notice is the sound of the record - the clarity of the sound is really nice. Good seperation is maintained between all the instruments, but it still sounds like an actual band is playing. The songs are a perfect display of the bipolar personality of the Bubblebum Complex. In the space of five minutes, quiet and pretty generally transform into noisy and loud, and the songs usually end up with Dunlap and guitarist Dave Dawson cockfighting in a melee of overloaded guitar distortion. Dawson's odd style adds a fun sense of weirdness to the pop aspects of the BGC's off-kilter arrangements. Drummer Andy Snyder and Erin Mobley on bass guitar lay down the law, and their consistency gives both guitar players the freedom to get as freaky as they wanna be. If you like a little sour to go with your sweet, pick up a copy of Wonderkids, which is available directly from the band or through Heatstroke Records. Nashville Zine.com
"Fantastic 4 piece outta Tennessee who do their state proud by carving out
9 chunky guitar gems that don't skimp on the melody, but give listeners
enough guitar crunch so's to not sound like wimpsters, either. I hear
elements of Pavement ("Writing a Song" sounds like it coulda been off one
of Pavement's early records) as well as Dinosaur Jr and twee pop, too.
Main guy Caldwell Dunlap is definitely onto something here, now he just
needs more people to find out about it." Dagger Zine issue .35

We're out there man!
As far as we know we're the only band in NAshville that has a singer that has been run over with an suv and lived to tell about it. So by default we're a bunch of badasses that likes to get into trouble. We're not huge fans of cake, but we like pie. We're constantly dealing with sinus infections and poverty. We plan on touring when the money shows up. OR doesn't show up. We'll be at your house for dinner tomorrow night and play you a lullabye
andy is our drummer extrodinaire, Dave plays guitar, Erin nurses us and plays bass, caldwell is imitating the life of Job
It's funny, because I was just cruising the strip malls last night in my 888 Mid Summer Dream II customized show van. It was approx. 4:30 AM when your song "RocknRoll" came up on a mix tape from my cassette deck-It was just what I needed to keep from having to pull over and crash for a while...
For that, may God bless you with strawberries, orange sunshine & cool breezes...
