The Story of the Buckskin Bible Revue
Scott Harrison Tyler began banging on the piano from his dads knee as soon as he could move his arms. At
thirteen he broke from the judged Classical piano recital dull-drums for the seductive world of electric
guitar. Skipping school to transcribe Iron Maiden guitar solos soon led to a return to Classical music, this
time on guitar. At seventeen, he started building guitars and went on to use them during college, performing
regularly with the BSU Classical and Jazz Guitar Ensembles. After a shocking crash course of Zappa 101,
administered by a college roommate, Tyler became fascinated by Jean Luc Ponte's five-string electric violin.
Realizing that rules could be broken, he began to build custom multi-string mandolins, violins, and bass
guitars. These unique axes combined with quick fingers and improvisational talents soon found Tyler in bands
like "Farmdog" and "Nada Brahma." He stepped out of the scene for a couple of years to start a family and
move to the quiet town of Emmett, Id., where he manages the family cherry orchard with wife Jana and their
two daughters. But as fate would have it…
A band of hooligans lured Tyler back into the music scene in search of his technical and melodic wizardry.
Growing up across the steet from the musical Lemmon household, Matt Steiner soon found himself with a bass in his hands. After a complete schooling at the hands of Warren Lemmon, Steiner began his long musical journey with the bands Trailer Park, The Spines, Jackson Thorne and many other Boise collaborations. Through the years Steiner has crafted a
gospel-rockabilly style, complete with bare feet, that is all his own. His great ears and solid timing are the foundation of the BBR Style.
Rob Danner started playing music at age 8 when his parents signed he and his sister up for piano lessons. At
age 12 he started playing drums and played in both the jazz and marching bands through his senior year of
high school. (Kuna, class of '91) At that time his musical influences were mainly old-school country (my
parents had a bitch'n eight track collection), jazz and 80's pop music. "My sister played bass in the school
jazz band and the Danner family rhythm section always played loud enough for the neighbors to hear."
He attended North Idaho College from 91-94 on a music scholarship, playing rock covers for the school pep
band, which featured an eight piece horn section, and playing in the community orchestra.
After a musical hiatus, Rob began actively playing drums again after moving to McCall, Id in 2000 and soon
played his way into the roll of unofficial town drummer. "While having a beer last summer a friend asked me
what band I was currently playing in. Before I could answer, the bartender shouted out 'All of them!'
Couldn't argue with that. During the calender year of 2006 I played gigs with eight different bands, all
small local shows. One of those bands was Buckskin Bible Revue. I filled in on a few shows during the
summer, and was hired on full time this winter. We are quickly labeled as bluegrass, but from behind the
drums it sounds like a warm, fuzzy combination of punk, jazz, and country. Call it what you will....I dare
you not to dance!!!"
