It was bound to happen. And now it has. It shouldn't come as any
surprise that the advancements of modern science have reached the
music world and the ramifications are only the tip of the iceberg.
What I am referring to is the world's first genetically engineered
band. This will give new meaning to the term musical genome. A result
of a highly secret project that goes back to the 60's, all of the
members of Buick 6 were chosen at birth from a process which starts
with in a highly intensive nationwide screening process of millions of
newborns. The simplest way to describe it is to say that each baby's
DNA was carefully studied; first for the musical gene, then for how
their musical genetic makeup then interacted with others. In other
words, looking for the perfect musical match. Consider the number of
possible combinations, which are almost infinite; the odds are
staggering that it would come down to these four individuals
collectively now called Buick 6. Yes, it seems preposterous- almost
Ray Bradbury like in its concoction. It stunning to think it could be
true.
And it isn't.
About as likely is that I own the Brooklyn Bridge and just put it up
on Ebay. My apologies if your leg feels pulled--all in good fun--which
was how this record was made. Far from being hatched in a petri dish
or under a microscope, this record was banged out in one week in an
exhiliarating burst of raw, improvisational creativity at ChessVolt studios in the
lovely San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles, California. And yet, while
the above paragraph has not a shred of the truth, the point here is
that after you listen to this record you almost think it could be-
because the real chemistry between the four musicians is simply
undeniable. They hope you enjoy listening to it as much as they
enjoyed making it.
