The best elements of contemporary thrash and death metal, mixed with big thundering grooves and soaring melodies are the abrasive ingredients that THE BURNING have cultivated to establish themselves as one of Denmark's premier up and coming metal acts.
In a time where the current trend sees most modern metal bands emulating euro-styled thrash/death and mixing it with either sappy choruses or an overload of predictable breakdowns.
THE BURNING goes against the grain drawing more on inspiration from the modern masters like PANTERA, SEPULTURA and SLAYER and focusing more on straight up aggression and the monothematic power of the huge pulverizing groove.
No Swedish twin guitars here, as THE BURNING instead utilizes the downtuned attack of only one guitar. Crushingly heavy back to basics drums and a thick distorded bass-sound equally intent on adding layers of melody and maximizing density on every single note to ensure that THE BURNING sound heavier than most twin guitar bands in todays metal scene.
Soaked in attitude, THE BURNING's thought provoking lyrical themes of war, religion and soul searching is barked out with ratty death metal inspired growls, and more traditional metal screams.
With their stripped down "No gimmick" approach, and almost dogmatic love for simple song structuring, THE BURNING's instead relies heavily on mixing all of their inspirations into every song to make sure they stand apart from each other.
That means for every haunting, crisp melody there is a meaty chugging riff, and for every uncompromising fast thrash or death part there is a bludgeoning, massive groove ensuring that the listerner is both drawn in but also sonically punished by the crushing density of the songs.
Known mostly from their intense, commanding live performances, and 2007's critically acclaimed debut STORM THE WALLS, 2009 will see the release of THE BURNING's yet to be titled follow up album, that shows a more mature side of a band that is very well capable of creating chrushing metal brutal enough to stand alongside CARCASS and CROWBAR but adding enough melody to stand up to the likes of MEGADETH or TESTAMENT.
