The Buzzerds -------
glitz, guitars & Dance-Rock demons ------
After establishing themselves as the hottest new expression for the face of dance-rock on Chicago’s local music scene in 2005, The Buzzerds – Chicago natives – have made it abundantly clear that their best virtue is their instinct to conjure up the most contagious and spunky dancefloor oddities, regardless of what musical genre they’re dropping into the mix. The Buzzerds self-titled debut was one of the most awaited CDs of the year, especially after the hit, “Rite Time for Love” made them ubiquitous, dancefloor deities in the fall. With an innovative and well balanced blend of urban atmospheres - rock, soulful disco interjections, pop, southern boogie and shadows of electronica - The Buzzerds have a sound that is a product of the group’s combined personalities: Front man Jimmy Newton’s (previously of the HellCats and JJ’s Box) vivid and unrelenting, yet smooth and meticulous guitar style doubled with the vocals of a bourbon drinkin’ cassonova – all twisted up and then topped off with the creamy, retro-glam vox of singer Rakhee “RaRa” Verma, who has the uncanny ability to turn every note into something savory – But the fun only starts with those two – The intoxicating bass and keyboards of Earl Carter and Fred Broderick confirm that this group is composed of artists and musicians that seem to have come together to eclipse what you hear on the radio, The Buzzerds have - dare I say it? – a truly original sound. Inevitably, all bands are influenced by other bands, but when you get a band that extracts and infuses the best aspects of multiple genres, the finished product is a well-oiled machine producing a sound that transcends the boundaries of age, race, and musical taste. Backed with lush harmonies, analog stabs, upright bass, guitar, and drums, The Buzzerds fill out and expand rock music’s pre-defined expectations to the point of no return. Their live show is essential to bring you full-circle in your understanding of these rock revolutionaries, since their shows are as in-your-face and entertaining as their sound is decadent. These guys are not just musicians, they are true entertainers, a feast for the ears and eyes. So maybe there “…ain’t no rite time for love…” but this is undoubtedly the right time for The Buzzerds.
Thanks for the comments! Playing at Elbo Room with ya'll will be a fun night. You guys are sounding quite groovelishis and we be bringing our dancin shoes.
Q: Which member of the band actually brought the house down at a show with a previous band?
A: Our own Jimmy Newton. I was at a party many years ago when Jimmy was playing in the Bras. Somewhere along the way the floor literally collapsed! LOL - there were no injuries luckily. I didn't know Jim at the time, and we didn't meet and realize our shared history until many years later. No bullshit!
