The Calvarymen Quartet was formed in 1956, in Flint, Michigan, and has been a leading force in southern gospel music ever since. With present day members Darrell Young-Bass, Barry Maust-Lead, Mark Jacoby-Baritone, and Randy Lewis-Tenor, these men continue to minister thru music. The style of music may have changed a little, but the message is still as powerful today, as it was 50 years ago.The present members bring a new and exciting sound to the stage with the help of thier producer, Bob Caldwell.
Barry Maust is the lead singer for the Quartet. Barry makes his home in Mechanicsburg, Ohio. He has been with the Quartet for 13 years. Barry is an asst. director for Choice books, and spends his non-singing time traveling the eastern, and midwest U.S. servicing displays for the book company.
Darrell Young is the bass singer for the group, and makes his home in Flint, Mi. Darrell has been with the Qt for 10 years. Darrell’s full time job is working for General Motors where he has 30+ years with the company. Darrell also serves as the booking agent for the group which uses up most of his time. What little time hs has left is spent with his wife Rhonda Joy, his children, and his grand-kids. Darrell is also an official for the Mi. High School Athletic Assoc.
Mark Jacoby sings the Baritone part for the Qt, and has been doing so for 7 years. He lives in the thumb of Mi. in a little town called Akron, where he carries on the family tradition of farming. Prior to coming to the Calvarymen, Mark sang with his father in a group called the Praise Qt. Mark, his wife Denna, and children Amanda, and Joshua all have a sincere love for the Lord, and are greatful for the daily works the Lord provides in thier lives.
Randy Lewis, is the Tenor for the Qt.He is on his second stint with the group after coming off the road where he spent 2 years with the Toney Brothers. Randy, and Mark joined the group at the same time in Jan. of 2000.
Since leaving the Toney’s, he has filled in with groups such as Palmetto State Qt, The Melody Boys, The Blackwood Gospel Qt, Kevin Spencer, and Friends, and last but not least the Booth Brothers. Randy, his wife Denise, and children Kaitlyn, Malorie, and Bryce make Clio, Mi. thier home. He would also like to welcome his first grandchild Corrin Marie. Randy is retired from General Motors, and in his spare time likes to hunt, and fish. Randy’s son Bryce joined the Qt. 1.5 years ago as thier sound guru. Bryce does an exceptional job as our sound man. He has a great ear for a 17 year old young man, and he has a great love for the lord. Not a bad combination. Not only that, we cannot wait for him to learn how to drive the bus!!!!!
Together these men bring a love for the Lord that spills out in thier performences. You will see that worshiping the Lord can be a fun experience, and that God is still in the business of touching, healing, and changing lives if you will just allow him to.
