| Member Since | 10/25/2005 | | Band Website | www.thecandidatos.com | | Band Members | Justin Rose & Kevin Wall | | Influences | Laurel & Hardy, Devotchka, Italo Calvino, Grock, Slava, The Decemberists, Eugene Ionesco, Bill Irwin, Jacques Tati, Astor Piazzola, Jean-Pierre Jeunet, George Saunders, & Acrobatic Stunts for Girls | | Sounds Like | I once saw a lion take his tamer in his teeth and, in a muffled roar, demand to be let out of his cage. The kid who was standing outside the cage, the one with gun who'd been slow to react when the lion attacked and so missed his chance to shoot, looked up to the booth where the producer was sitting. I was in the third row, and I saw the producer nod. Then the kid unlocked the cage. The sound that the lock made, the empty clank that it made when it turned and hit the nearest bar...we'd love to sound like that. | | Record Label | Unknown Major | | Type of Label | Major |

| About The Candidatos |
We are on hiatus...Justin will be in Minneapolis doing a show titled: You're My Favorite Kind of Pretty at the Southern Theatre, check it out: http://www.jonfergusontheater.com/projects.htm. Kevin is roaming the wilds of Eastern Europe - mother's, protect your daughters! We still check this thing though, so send us reports on what's going on where you are.
Based where ever we are, The Candidatos (a.k.a. Justin Rose & Kevin Wall) are dedicated to the creation of original, fantastical, playfully tragic, unwittingly didactic, and absurdly atemporal popular performance. The Village Voice has described them as being “straight out of an episode of HBO’s Carnivale,” while The New York Times has cited them for their role in the renaissance of American clown-theatre.
All work is created and premiered in Montana and tours both nationally and internationally. The company’s first original production, I'm Sorry & I'm Sorry, played to sold-out houses and critical acclaim in America and abroad, and continues to tour. At the 2005 Minneapolis Fringe Festival, the show was named Best of Fest (out of 170+ shows) by festival bloggers. At the 2006 Dublin International Fringe Festival, the show was one of five nominated for Best Production (out of 130+ shows from over 30 countries) and the company members were collectively nominated for Best Male Performance. They have performed other original works at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, HERE Arts, and the Brick Theater in New York City.
In addition to the touring performances, The Candidatos also present works locally (including a critically acclaimed site–specific production of Samuel Beckett’s Endgame in conjunction with the Montana Rep Missoula) and offer a series of workshops on physical comedy, writing for clown, and the history of the circus arts.
