   About THE CARDBOARD LUNG
http://www.codesformyspace.net/ Youll find some new stuff up there. Hopefully Earth Monkey will be putting the new album out soon , or soon as I settle on whats going to be on it. Meantime, heres a track from thenew EMP compilation celebrating 50 EMP releases or psychotic incidents or something..just got back from the Good Noise Bad Noise US tour with Dan, Neil and Chuck Monkey himself...its an honour and a privilege serving with you sirs..also hello to Frank and Scott from Duet For Theremin and Lap Steel, and Road Manager Gregg, thanks again for a fine tour ...look at the GNBN site..most of its there. and what isnt is best left there..

Thanks to the girls of St Bernards School , for thier work on the Al Mobility Story. For thoise of ypou who dont know, Al played for Barrow AFC in th e 1920s and dissapeared under mysterious circumstances after a sending off...never seen again. Al was some player apparently, but the big thing about him was that he always played while carrying a plant under his arm. Hard to imagine these days. The girls, with help from poet and Radio 3 notable Ian McMillan have pieiced together the surviving facts . You can find it in my website at

www.johnkennethhall.co.uk

Our last St Bernards project, 60 Minutes, attracted a lot of praise an dcan be found on the Earth Monkey Productions website. Exemplary music concrete from some great students.

Bit of sad news, Jacec Wolcovinski who has been my friend, colleague and occasional publicist for as long as I can remember has been in intensive care in Derbyshire Royal Infirmary for the last few weeks after falling into a patch of nettles while cleaning some guttering. Jacecs hearing may suffer long term damage and his taste buds have lost of thier sensitivity too. Its still early days though, and his vocal chords at least are on the way back to some sort of functioning state. Cheers youth. Thats me for now. Thanks to Steve Phelps at Blinding Webdesign for the his work on the new site. bye. JOHN/LUNG

In his capacity as Stage Right Laptop in Good Noise Bad Noise (theres a myspace out there) The Lung is touring America in the spring, playing lots of places that have had songs written about them, in the company of our good friends Duet For Theremin and Lapsteel. Does Nashville have a Wetherspoons? If not, Im sure a quick word with Billy Sherrill will sort something out. Hes still alive isnt he?.

THe Cardboard Lung returns to the stage at Warrington on Oct 27, supporting FONIK and thier accompaniment of original horror classic NOSFERATU, along with Good Noise Bad Noise and Clutter..

This is the first Lung Gig since the summer tour which ended in a kind of blurred heap at Dogs In Space at Solfest 07. Thanks to Micheal Dogg and crew for a great weekend. Thanks too to Mr Duke, Little My and Hornby Pylons in Pont y Pridd, Pandacetemol in Edinburgh , out latest 100% female audience at Lancaster and Paul at Preston for digs and very good times . We'll be in Pont y Pridd again next year, as we search for the ultimate Wetherspoons cheap breakfast experience.

The Lung is in Preston on the 28th July to play at RESONATOR , UCLAN's one day festival of new music and audio visual art . Therell be a major Earth Monkey presence and Janek Schaefer is headlining. Theres an advert in Wire and more details on this site, or you can contact Paul Craddock at paulcraddock@uclan.ac.uk and he'll tell you what you need to know. Should be good. Duet For Theremin and Lapsteel played an Earth Monkey Open Circuit night at Forum 28 in Barrow as part of thier current tour. Andrew Deakin and Lung supported, and then travelled down to Warrington with them for thier Festival spot at the Pyramid. Thanks to Frank and Scott for two beautifull shows, and to Fonik for an excellent festival, see you in Barrow with Nosferatu in October. Other gigs: the Lung and Clutter at Edinburgh's Octopus Diamond- cracking venue from the lovely people at The Forest Cafe. Thanks to them for a fine night. Then we had an Earth Monkey Open Circuit night at the Nest Cafe in Barrow with Andrew Deakin, Clutter and Preston's Muted Cell.

A Podcast of each set available at the Earth Monkey site on

Earth Monkey Productions

Thanks Steve for some great nights at the Nest, good luck with whatevers next.

Look out for details about Halal Kebab Hut's Barrow gig on April 29th, and get som economy pork pies in because hey hey we're Earth Monkey and we may be coming to your town.

REVIEWS FOR "PATIENT LIFTED"

"I am also loving the patient lifting ep by the cardboard lung :: more dissonant with found sound and stolen voices... over ambient guitars. Loving it as the soundtrack to dreary days in wet Glasgow."

-HEADPHONAUTS NANOLOG

" I reccomend.. The Cardboard Lung’s Patient Lifted, which consists mostly of bright drones & grained vocals and ambience, and occasionally a subtle rhythm."

UDOMONDO

"PATIENT LIFTED" IS THE NEW ALBUM FROM THE CARDBOARD LUNG,AVAILABLE SOON AS A FREE DOWNLOAD FROM EARTH MONKEY PRODUCTIONS.

John Hall Website

PREPARE FOR GOVERNMENT by THE CARDBOARD LUNG is the latest offering by Rennaisance Underachiever John Hall. Resident artist at Barrow Island School, Barrow In Furness, John has been a painter most of his life but lately has written and directed several short films in collaboration with colleagues Shaun Blezard (aka CLUTTER on these very pages) and Steve Wharton. Three of the tracks here are from the soundtrack to " Fires Were Started", a five minute short featuring three pre-war electric bar fires in Cumbrian Village Halls. Another of these films "orangehead", (in which a bloke with a giant orange for a head walks into a pub) was nominated for Best Short at the 2005 Salford Commonweath Film Festival.

Other LUNG / John Hall activity can be heared on "Mannassas live at the Cavendish" and "Vague Recollections on the Lost Highway" ( see CLUTTER) and on "Sounds Of The City...Hull and Thereabouts" from freetownway productions of Hessle.
Carboot afficionados might like to look out for "Binbag" / "You Bring Out The Spock In Me" by Grandads Dont Indicate on Mook Records 7" industrial strength Czech vinyl. http://www.mookhouse.ndo.co.uk Theres also www.international hypocrite.com , the mail order outlet for Johns' limited edition badges and multiples.

Currently putting together a wide-ranging football-related project, John welcomes all enquiries about collaborations and other interesting stuff. This lung is your lung.

With another year winding down to the end comes the end of year awards - and the return of the TGM Awards. The awards are back for its fourth year, hoping to be as successful as last year's.

To anyone who is new to this, the TGM Awards is an annual end of year awards event, which celebrates the best local bands in Cumbria and South West Scotland. And with many local acts battling for awards, there is so much to choose from.

We can confirm that the Cardboard Lung have 2 nominations:

* Best Alternative Act
* Best Gig (Earth Monkey, The Canteen - Mar 2007)

Voting will begin on Saturday 17th November and close on Sunday 16th December, and the winners announced in the run up to Christmas.

You have the power to decide who wins.
