These four young penwortham lads came together in April 2007 and formed from the splitting of two shit local bands. Three of the lads, Alex, Jack and Dave, first joined together to form a band on their own. They had known each other since primary school and they soon came up with the name 'The Carletons' for the band. After a month or two of practising together and writing a few ideas they were in search of a drummer to bring the songs and the band together. Soon after, Dave coincidentally came across an old friend at a local gala, Adam, who was a brilliant drummer and without hesitation, they brought him in to the band and 'The Carletons' were complete.
The Carletons recorded their first set of three songs with Assembly Line records on September 9th 2007 ('Get It Your Way', 'Oh What Has Happened', and 'You Ain't Half Full Of It'). The boys are now currently writing new songs and hope to gig as much as possible around Preston and the North West and establish a big fan base.
On September 25th 2007, The Carletons received the "Double A Play" on a New York Radio Station show called "All Access" that plays the best independent music from around the world and with the great feedback received from the listeners, they want to hear more music and soon!
They played their debut gig on Friday 19th October 2007 at the packed out 'Venue'. Their electrifying and confident performance really got the crowd going and the band showed their true potential as a unique live act at a venue where it is rare to see a crowd going as wild as that.
They recorded another new set of songs with a new mobile recording studio after the disagreements with the previous recording studio. They recorded 'His Exaggerations' and 'Something About Her'. The lads are continuing to write new and perform new songs and will hopefully be recording some new tracks again in the near future.
The lads appeared on BBC Radio Lancashire for the first time on Friday 14th December 2007 where they had two of their tracks played on 'Bryan', a show dedicated to the best unsigned bands around Lancashire. You can listen to the show by clicking on this link and then click on 'Bryan':

They made their debut newspaper appearance on the 28th December 2007 where their upcoming appearances at Manchester Academy 3 and on Radio 1 were mentioned in the Lancashire Evening Post, here is the link for the article:
The Carletons In The House For Radio 1
On the 30th December 2007, the band were picked out of thousands of entries as the 'House Band' for the week on Annie Mac's weekly Sunday radio show. They had to make a short jingle for the show, one of their songs was played and they also had an interview with Annie Mac live on air. Information about them was also put on the Radio 1 website for a week so that listeners could listen to more of the songs. This international Radio 1 appearance sure gives hope for these lads future and a sign of many more things to come.
Since then the boys have been busy gigging including prestigious venues such as Manchester Academy 3 and the famous Cavern Club. They also did a live acoustic set and interview on a local radio station (Chorley FM). In March 2008, they got through the first round of the Surface Unsigned Festival and recently have also bagged a place at the Penwortham Gala in June where it will be a year to day that the band all met up and formed, all at the same place.
In late March 2008, the lads stepped it up a level again and were spotted playing at a gig at 'The Venue' in Preston by End Of The Trail Records. They went down to the label in Hastings to record a single and to play a few gigs in Brighton and Hastings. They went down extremely well with the viewing crowd showing loads of praise and interest in their powerful live set. At the end of this weekend The Carletons were signed by End Of The Trail Records and this definitely proves what an exciting future these four Penwortham lads have with the single being released in August, a 2 week tour around the whole of the UK and a video being released to promote the single! To top that off, they are also going to be supporting 'The Subways' on their UK tour at 53 degrees on 20th May 2008.
