Welcome to our home THE CASTLE full of love, beauty and history located in Centralia, Washington and is the home of the Kohlmeier family. Purchased in derelict state nine years ago, Michael and Lisa have worked diligently to renovate the 11,ooo square foot structure into their very unique home! So far they are two/thirds complete and going strong. "This place will never be finished because by the time I think I have finally completed the job, it will be time to go back and repair something new! That's the nature of owning an old structure,” says Michael of the beautiful crowning jewel of the Edison district.
Built in 1926 directly over the China Ditch, The Castle’s initial use was as the Seventh Day Adventist church and school. As we all know, churches come with some type of sanctuary and this buildings meeting room was huge. That is where Lisa books the talent into her "living room" once a year for a benefit concert, which has raised over the years almost $12,000 in scholarships to Lewis County students. They have also donated to the Pearl Street pool, the Centralia Skate Park and Performing arts council.
"When you have a home like ours, you know going into it that it is to share with the public. Lisa, being a retired promoter with connections, has a way to have fun while she feeds the young minds of our future leaders." Says Michael, a recent college graduate himself.” He saw the need, while attending both Centralia College and Evergreen State, that there was a need for scholarships that give opportunities to more kids than just the ones who have a high I.Q or are athletic, especially in the economically depressed county such as Lewis."
"The finest emotion of which we are capable is the mystic emotion. Herein lies the germ of all art and all true science. Anyone to whom this feeling is alien, who is no longer capable of wonderment and lives in a state of fear is a dead man" Albert Einstein
