Hello

Its the end of June already. Just wanted to direct your attention to the VIDEOS section of our website.

At the end of August we are going to have a look at all of the FAN MADE VIDEOS up on the site, and award prizes to people who have made their own videos and send them through to our site.

If you have your own video, or think you might want to make one, the process for getting it loaded up on the site is:

1. Load your video up onto You Tube (www.youtube.com)
2. Go to the ‘Fan’ section of our website. (Click on the tree when you visit the home page)
3. Click .. Fan Movies or Clips’ which you will find in the left hand side navigation panel.
4. Enter the requested fields, including the URL of where we will find the clip and click ..’

Prizes will be awarded in the following categories:

1. Most creative use of The Cat Empires music in film
2. Most skilled
3. Funniest

The prizes will be ‘prize packs’ including:

1. A signed photograph of the band on stage
2. A signed copy of SO MANY NIGHTS
3. An Embroidered Hoodie
4. And a few more bits and pieces

Hello from The Cat Empire

Just an update to let you know what’s happening in our world. Our latest album So Many Nights is now out in most parts of the world, with Europe next in line. It has already gone PLATINUM in Australia...We recorded it in Malibu, and in Melbourne. The name, ‘So Many Nights’ refers to the songs which are travel stories that got etched out in the back of a tour bus over the years. We hope you enjoy the journey. Check it out here.

We have launched a new website recently, which features our entire body of recordings to date. Go to the MULTIMEDIA section where you can listen to recordings, watch the video clips, download the tracks and ring tones....

Happy New Year from The Cat Empire.

We have survived the muddy rapids of Woodford, and the screams of thousands of surfers at Pyramid rock, to bring you this update:

Voting is now on for the 2007 Triple J hottest 100. A couple of years ago we had 3 tracks in the top 100. Tiks are selling outrageously fast to our national outdoor tour in Feb. with a month to go until the tour kicks off, Melbourne ticket sales are neck in neck with the fans from Brisbane who are trying to prove their loyalty is above that of the bands home crowd. We are intrigued to see who wins this competition, and suspect Sydney may do what Sydney does, and nail both Brisbane and Melbourne!

We are incredibly excited about touring with Blue King Brown, The Beautiful Girls and Ash Grunwald. It's going to be BIG. Hope you can share that with us...

We are very proud to announce that our new album SO MANY NIGHTS will be in all good record stores all around Australia tomorrow, Saturday 22 Sept. It is the culmination of the last few years of touring, and is a record we are proud of. There are definitely some new sounds, but still plenty of the old stuff you all expect us to deliver too. Most of the songs were written on the road and developed in the studio with our great Producer John Porter.

Those people who are in Melbourne can come to the Prince of Wales at midnight tonight to join us for a launch party, and to be the first in the WORLD to get your hands on the album. Jumps will DJ into the early hours of the morning. It’s free entry, so head on down at midnight.

Sydney – we are about to CRUSH the Metro record. Our 8th show will go on sale later today. That’s the record breaker! Just between us, we have 50 comp tiks to each show which we are going to put on sale next week. So, if you DID miss out (shame on you!) you should keep your eye on the metro website for the release of this last hand full of tiks.

WEDNESDAY 17 OCT will be FAN NIGHT at The Sydney Metro This means it’s the night where the real fans will come out for a mid week shakedown with The Cat Empire. Fans will choose the set list in advance of the show, through a new site called PICK R SET. They will be able to choose songs from all of The Cat Empires albums to date (including the new one) www.pickrset.com/bands/thecatempire There will be a box at the door where fans can post a question for the band.
Questions will be randomly selected and answered on stage throughout the show. The street team will attend for free.
The band will shout everyone their first drink.
We invite everyone to bring their cameras to take pics, and we won’t confiscate them!
The guys will hang out after the show to meet fans.
Everyone will receive a gift from the band as they leave.
We will run a comp on our website for one lucky fan to perform with the band on the night. The comp will involve posting an ‘audition’ video to You-tube. The fan will nominate which TCE song, and what instrument they want to play. If the winner is from interstate, they will be flown in and accommodated for the night of performance. We are very proud to announce the US release of our latest record, So Many Nights, which has just been released in the USA.
The album has already gone platinum in Australia. We recorded it in Malibu, CA and in Melbourne after our USA tour last fall, and we really think the album marks a high point for the band, both in terms of performance and songwriting.
So Many Nights refers to the songs. They're little vignettes from our travels, stories that got etched out in the back of a tour bus over the years. We were keen to step beyond our regular party thing and were all ready to make something crafted, more musically solid. There are still some solid party moments though, so old-school fans won't be disappointed!

July 15, 2008 Hey Canada! Gear up for Summer with The Cat Empire!

In case you haven’t heard by now, The Cat Empire is back with their latest CD, So Many Nights, and is available now in stores across Canada!

Like always, the band is smokin' beyond belief. But this year, well, let’s just say the party has crossed the line between mystery and light. And back. A few times.

"So Many Nights refers to the songs," says bandleader Felix Riebl. "They’re little vignettes from our travels, stories that got etched out in the back of a tour bus over the years. You get to a point, living like that, where it really gets hard to distinguish between what's happening and what's a dream."

And so the strange, colourful trip unfurls from the airborne whimsy of "Panama" to the mystifying, swirling thrill of '"The Darkness". It's all melancholy ache in "Lonely Moon", funky as hell in "So Long" and "Strong Coffee", then freaky like a spaghetti western acid trip in "Voodoo Cowboy."
