A Little History: The Cathode Ray started life in 2006 as a songwriting collaboration between singer/songwriter Jeremy Thoms and ex Josef K frontman, Paul Haig. Recording the songs with Bluebells/TV21 bassist Neil Baldwin plus drummer/percussionist David Mack completing the lineup, The Cathode Ray released a one off double 'A' sided single titled "Whats It All About?"/"Mind" in late 2006 on Pronoia Records (http://www.pronoia-records.com/PR/Content/Release.aspx?id=18)
Since the release of that first single, and the completion of the sessions for the self-titled debut album, Paul Haig has left the project amicably to continue with his solo career. His replacement for live and future recording work is former Scars/Mike Scott accomplice Steve Fraser.
A second single, "Slipping Away" was released to great critical acclaim in April 2009 on Re-Action Recordings (see Guardian review in blogs). A third single, "Train", is due in November 2009 to trail the album, which is finally due for release in late 2009/early 2010. The new band lineup will be making it's live debut to coincide with these releases. More details as they emerge...September 2009.
