The Cerberus Ensemble is, or should we say, was, the brain-child of Alex Taylor (violin) and Simon Quinn (everything else). However, with Alex Taylor making the long-awaited move to europe due to the hysterical demands of fans, record labels, and smooth industry types who spend all their time sitting in the shadows of trendy clubs, their red glowing eyes piercing the smoky depths in an effort to choose the most worthy musical genius to destroy, The Cerberus Ensemble will be no longer existing as a bona fide 'band' as such. Let's be clear about this; The Cerberus Ensemble no longer has any kind of existential status whatsoever. It is a cypher, a jabberwocky, just a name in peoples heads and a bunch of codes on the computer screen. However, since the reason Alex moved to england in the first place was because he felt that the european scene was more conducive to his peculier talents (hem hem), it is fairly reasonable to assume that he will be starting another band whilst he is over there. And this is in fact the case. The new band he is starting is called 'Alex Taylor and the Evil Eye' and will be a bitchin' kind of dark trip-hop type thing with a string quartet feel (violin, cello and upright bass with programmed beats and other lap-toppy stuff). You can have a little look at the Evil Eye myspace if you like, there is some older music loaded onto it, and if you wish to become a friend of Evil, Alex will be wildly advertising his new music as soon as it is ready (any day now!)
Our show on Fri 11 December at the East Brunswick Club, with a huge line up featuring Mojo Juju and the Snake Oil Merchants and Mikelangelo and the Tin Star; two of our very favourite acts. Hope to see you there
Big gypsy tunes will echo around the centre of Melbourne on Friday 7 August when The Woohoo Revue head up a massive line up of bands and DJs at the Forum Theatre as part of the Melbourne International Film Festival’s Balkan Beatbox Night.
In addition to The Woohoo Revue, the show will also feature such amazing acts as Vardos, BabaGanoush, 13 piece brass band Opa! as well as DJ Gabriele Urban Gypsy (PBS Trans Europa Express).
The combined talents of these performers will make this a rampaging Balkan carnival of oom-pah, gypsy swing and huge brass band sounds.
well i was at a party in the bush and this lady who i thought was sexy said to me out of the blue if you were an animal you would be a crab i am staring into a fire in the middle of nowhere and she says i would be a crab
now in the beginning this made me feel a little weird who did this woman think she was no man would be happy with a crab right give him a tiger a lion a horse and eagle but a crab
as the night when on i developed a crab dance that took the heat off me a little bit seems people can love crabs especially when they dance there was crab sex in a tent later that night who would have thought a crab could do such things
two things i have learnt about the crab one is that its teeth are located in its stomach so if i the crab happened to ask that sexy lady to just relax and rest her head on my stomach well you know the rest and secondly if a crab loses his claw in a battle he can just grow it back which would make piano playing interesting
if you want to see the crab dance or the man she says reminded her of crab you can see him and his wonderful talented band this SAT 25 and SUN 26 at the TOFF IN TOWN Swanston St MELB CITY show kicks off around 8 its 10 dollars cause of the recession see you there
