Once a solo project from lead singer Matt Holtby, The Champion Heartache was formed in 2006, with a revolving line up. Hailing from Oshawa, the band's members not only have solo careers in full swing, but with the line up now set in stone, they are hard at work recording and producing their debut LP. Influences include Springsteen, Bright Eyes, Wilco, Elliott Smith, Starflyer 59 and so many more... but our favorite band in the world is the Stables. : )
That was a great set at The Boat. An exhilarating rock spirit with underlying roots and melodic-pop tones. This is music that unfolds and blossoms before your ears, brash guitar-riffs, impassioned vocals, rock energy meshed with whiskey-ladened twang. Always delivering a spirited performance.

That was a great set at The Boat. Infectious music that combines high-energy roots-rock, 60's pop, with neo-psychedelic flavours. A supersonic foot-stomping palate that combines different elements into a polished, uptempo delivery that flourishes like a dynamic musical celebration.
That was a great set at Rancho Relaxo. A balance of roots-inflective rock, sweet harmonies, and a soaring, inspired, flight that straddles catchy pop sheen, alt-roots dynamicism of Wilco and Ryan Adams and the dreamy neo-psych sounds of Mercury Rev. An excursion that dealves into the realm of strong songwriting by a band that wears its heart-on-its-sleeve, admirable, engaging and and sheer joy.
That was a great set at The Rivoli, indie-rock swagger seamlessly blended with elements of Wilco and a sparkling UK-type spirit, making for a swirly, colourful, inspired sound. Anthem-worthy melodies and high-energy, this is an accomplished band waiting to be heard by the masses.
