The Cheltenham Underground has been set up as a fresh alternative to the established live music nights currently on in Cheltenham. Our plan is to offer an exciting and diverse night showcasing an eclectic mix of acoustic and non-acoustic acts - both local and from further afield.
At present we run showcase nights at Slak, 16 Bath Street, Cheltenham and The Frog & Fiddle, 313-315 High Street.
We also make the following pledges:
1. We will help promote any act who has played or is booked to play at The Cheltenham Underground showcase nights. We will do this by keeping our MySpace and facebook profiles regularly updated by posting the bands’ studio recordings and our live recordings of their sets. We will only do this with prior permission from the acts concerned.
All acts will have a link to their MySpace profile placed on our profile pages.
2. Although we warmly welcome the more established local acts to come down and play, of equal importance to us are the local bands and musicians who are still getting established or starting out.
There are no cliques at The Cheltenham Underground. We respect the music not reputations.
3. All acts who play at The Cheltenham Underground showcase nights will be paid. There seems to be an unchallenged culture of not paying bands for their work. We are against such thinking and against those who deem it acceptable to act in this way. For those acts who have travelled the highways and byways to be with us, we will also make an additional contribution towards travel expenses.
4. Finally and more generally, we aim to put on a night that will entertain, excite and make one dance recklessly/tap foot reservedly/nod head sagely (delete as appropriate depending on preferred method of outward display of musical appreciation).

THE DACOITS play the Vic with THE DIRTY FEEL & HOTEL 75 on the 5th NOVEMBER To celebrate the arrival of their DEBUT ALBUM.
It’s been a long gestation period and a painful birth but we are now delighted to announce the arrival of our first album. Weighing in at 40 minutes it is an temperamental creation of flawed beauty, prone to violent, noisy outbursts yet irresistibly charming and loveable. Come along to wet the baby’s head, hear some excellent live music and grab a copy of the album.
Just to say thanks for putting on the gig last night! Was a great show and I really enjoyed both playing and watching the other acts. Will definitely come to your future nights. If you want to do another gig sometime just let me know. Cheers!

That'd be great! I really did have a good time. Was nice not to be ill and manage to play there. Is a lovely venue! A next time (with a cajon...or however you spell it!) would be amazing :)
