"The City EP" (08/2008)
-- The City
-- This Is My England
...spiky angular injections that plateau into dreamy filmic eerie places then are brought back into focus again with cool composure... - ThisisUll.co.uk
“...a live display supporting Glasvegas that had the Scottish rockers reaching frantically for their bottles of Buckfast while trying not to sh*t their wee pants.” - HullVibe
"...kicking...long drum intro, which is soon greeted by a swimming bass line that seems to ripple around the room until the whole band kick in with a ferocious vigour..." - Sandman Magazine
"...stomping blend of chugging beats and guitars that pretty much break the pitch of any ear" - Amplify This!
"..Hulls finest!" - The legend that is Paul "jacko" Jackson
"Contributing to the indie section or the less 'urban' part of the
Mindie night, were The Cherry Cobb Cartel, all the way from the land
of Hull. This was a great set from the band, and without a shadow of a
doubt they easily pleased the crowd with their sinister, indie pop,
solid harmonies and upbeat rhythm many danced along" - London Kicks.co.uk
Formed during a car crash in a sand storm second door on the left next to the bath, you can't miss it mate.
“Sheeeee’s Alright!!”
“So is this band!”
“keh!?”
With their first ever gig culminating in the drummers arrest you just knew it was going to be something special. The Cherry Cobb Cartel have in the last 10 months won the hearts and minds of – many. Hailing from Hull and hence the name and whoosh straight over yer ‘ed, they have focused their attention on the big smoke and it has proved prosperous. Gaining a wealthy fan base and securing a “verbal contract” with Promotions Company who do as their namesake suggests and help greatly with their wise minds and keen musical taste spreading the word of the cobb.
Such is the dedication of this band they will even provide entertainment if near death, as proven at their last venture in London when it was later found out one member was a whole lung short of your standard human quota after some shady alveolus thief had stolen it. 85% of it has since been returned.
The self release of their debut EP “Our Turn” saw the 500 copies which they made disappear quicker than the culprit who releases a bad fart in a crowd. With national airplay on a major scale including Radio 1, BBC 6 Music and even Chorley FM the band are clearly worthy of your eyes and ears.
To date they have had the pleasure of supporting The Futureheads, Glasvegas, Six Nation State, Vincent Vincent and the Villains, Lupen Crook and Shiny Toy Guns all in sold out shows. Quite simply you must see this band to see what they are about. If you like; you will soon love and if you don’t, no matter, you are not forced to like, music is a free choice and a matter of opinion; it just may be that your opinion is wrong.

Alright? Late shout as ever, but you fancy joining us for
our final London
show?
We’re playing our final London show on Saturday 20th at
Hope and Anchor in Islington. It will be a very messy affair, we promise. Print
off the flyer for cheaper entry on the door.
I finally finished up a project I have been working on closely with my homie DJ Trippin' over the past few months. The idea was to take a handful of my freestyles, studio tracks, and b-sides I've recorded over the last year and combine them all to a 1 track mix. All mixing, scratching, and juggling was performed by DJ Trippin'. The effort is available for high quality download by clicking the cover below!
La Folie are having a launch party on the 8th of June at The Forum in Sheffield! £2 advance tickets/£3 on the door! Plus the added bonus of if you film some stuff from the night of us, you or anything else connected and send it us, we will send you a free copy of 'Risus Sardonicus'
