The Chops are a 5 piece rock band from Asheville,NC. Formed in early 2007, the Chops have since begun to fuse surf, garage-punk, western twang, and new-wave into a cluster bomb of a 30 minute set. Featuring members or former members of The Lost Sounds, DigShovelDig, Descolada, Cripes Almighty, On the Take, Body of John the Baptist, Robots vs. Villages and a bunch more bands. It's "gettouta my face and into a stiff drink" rock and roll and its only getting louder.
from Creative Loafing Charlotte:
Chops This Asheville-based quintet is quite adept at cranking quick and short surf and roll ditties, slowing down just enough to snag a brew and then it's off again with rubber burning. They may not hit the road in a souped-up American muscle car, but they've been surfing up a rep around these parts with raw and unrefined rock. Any outfit that shakes things up in the musical realm is okay in my book. Tonight's triple bill also features Angwish and Timbre Tambour. Milestone (Samir Shukla)
from Mountain Xpress Asheville: Asheville-based instrumental surf-, garage- and punk-fueled group The Chops. The group is actually kind of a local “supergroup,” combining members of Dig Shovel Dig, Descolada, On The Take and “a bunch more bands.” While no one will be claiming that their music is a sweeping and poetic sonic landscape, almost anyone who listens will probably admit that it is an awful lot of fun. We suggest starting with the very surf-powered track “Blast Off.”
from Independent Weekly Chapel Hill/Raleigh/Durham:
Asheville's Chops take off like Man or Astroman? on a Kahlua bender, its garage surf instrumentals cutting up tight rhythmic curls, while harboring a hint of incipient sonic violence, particularly when it's "got the shake".-chris parker

Wow. I am so not the sharpest tac in the box. I only just got the reference to being the best band on "planet earth". Haha, or maybe there was just too much alcohol consumed by that point....
