The Christmas Jug Band:
Stalwart purveyors of the jugabilly mystique! A tongue-in-cheek seasonal convergence of
Dan Hicks, Commander Cody alumni and other San Francisco Bay Area
luminaries: Gregory Leroy Dewey,
Austin Delone, Tim Eschliman (Rhythmtown-Jive), Turtle Vandemarr,
Paul Rogers (Those Darn Accordions),
Jim Rothermel, Nik Phelps, Paul Wenninger, Nick "Not Joe" Dewey, and Blake Richardson.
"The alternative Christmas record of the year." (Mistletoe Jam) - Midwest Record Recap.
The Christmas Jug Band's latest release "UNCORKED" was engineered by FRED CATERO (Pointer Sisters, Santana, Barbra Streisand's "People," Sly & the Family Stone, Big Brother & The Holding Co.'s "Cheap Thrills") and ARJAN MCNAMARA, who know the idiosyncrasies of capturing acoustic eccentricities better than anyone and features the irreverent crew of DAN HICKS (Dan Hicks and the Hot Licks), AUSTIN DELONE (Nick Lowe, Elvis Costello), TIM ESCHLIMAN (Commander Cody, Etta James, Rhythmtown-Jive), PAUL ROGERS (Those Darn Accordions!), JIM ROTHERMEL (Jesse Colin Young, Van Morrison), LANCE DICKERSON (Commander Cody, David Bromberg), and BLAKE RICHARDSON (Bobby Hebb). Also featured on the CD are original jug band founding members, NICK DEWEY (Bodacious, Rowdy & the Rivets), GREG "DUKE" DEWEY (Mad River, Country Joe McDonald, Marty Balin), and PAUL WENNINGER (washtub virtuoso); and special guest appearances by NORTON BUFFALO (doing the Marx Brothers classic "I Want A Hippopotamus for Christmas"), Texas blues master ANGELA STREHLI, Bay Area favorite, MARIA MULDAUR (both featured on "Boogie Woogie Santa Claus"), and the powerhouse soul-gospel of MIKE DUKE (Wet Willy, Delbert McClinton), recapping the classic lawsuit-threatened Huey "Piano" Smith arrangement of "Silent Night." The talent roster is topped off with Dan Hick's vocal back-up quartet "THE FABULOUS OPINIONS" which consists of Eggs Over Easy's BRIEN HOPKINS, AUSTIN DELONE and JAY DAVID plus TIM ESCHILMAN.
"The latest unrepressed winter wonderland recording by the wacky Christmas Jug Band: Entitled, "Uncorked" and featuring the "smash" hit, "Santa Lost a Ho," this kick-in-the-Christmas-pants features such great musicians as Dan Hicks (yes, that Dan Hicks,) Norton Buffalo, Paul Rogers, Austin deLone, Maria Muldaur, Angela Strehli, Mike Duke and singer/producer Tim Eschliman (on whose Globe Records label the CD has been released.) Including musical genres such as jazz, blues, folk & rock n' roll, and instruments ranging from autoharp to washtub bass, it's hecka more fun than roasting chestnuts, Christmas trees on fire or a fat men stuck in chimneys. Rating: Five holiday stars." - Southland Blues
"A welcome relief from the solemnity of the season...wonderful kazoo-and-washboard favorites...swingin' blues-jazz arrangements..." - Cashbox (re Mistletoe Jam)

"Ticklin' The Strings" by Sweet Hollywaiians
Amazing Japanese hot string band playing 1920's, 30's, 40's style hawaiian, swing, calypso, blues, italian music and originals, featuring vintage instruments.3 songs with Robert Armstrong and Tony Marcus(from Robert Crumb and His Cheap Suit Serenaders)
"The Sweet Hollywaiians have probably the best feel for this 20's music of any string band working today. They manage the rare feat of sounding relaxed even when their playing is hot, are top notch musicians with tasteful arrangements and a full, rich, warm sound.Plus, they have a nice gamut of tunes, from King Nawahi to Giovanni Vicari to Bobby Leecan. See them live, if you can, for an unforgettable experience. If you can't, buy their Cds!" ~ Terry Zwigoff

Thanks for the add, guys. I'm kinda partial to Washboard Road because I still have the washboard I used to play back in the early 70's. I think I bought it for $2.50 back then.
