Chuck plays music with the Baltimore-based Pink Floyd tribute band Several Species. This eleven-piece band gives a thrilling performance complete with steller visual effects and quadraphonic sound. He also teaches private piano lessons in the Baltimore area.
In his debut CD Chuck Field has taken an eclectic approach to songwriting as he absorbs influences from various styles and relates parts of his life to each of these. Borrowing from rock, pop, blues, jazz, adult comtemporary, new age, and even a little folk he complements his musical ideas with an assortment of instrumentation to help create a montage of moods while maintaining a firm foundation with his lineup of exemplary musicians.
At times he's making a statement about the struggling human condition (Another Clue, Corner of the Sky) and at others he tells his plaintive story of trying to quit a woman (Slow Walkin'). In this album Chuck juxtaposes heartfelt introspection (What I Now Can Call My Own, The Wooded Path) and comic relief (Babblin' Blues), never allowing the listener to rest while bringing fresh and unexpected twists. He presents his real life situations of heartache and humankind's potential ruin with an underlying compulsion for hope. With some of Baltimore's finest musicians, Chuck Field has produced an album for a large audience.
