  • MoviesThe Circle's programming revolves around independent, foreign and rep cinema. We also love documentaries. We try to have unique events at the Circle--from bringing in filmmakers to having art openings to all sorts of things.

Circle Cinema believes supporting locally owned places creates a bond between the people that live here and the establishment. We hope to be THE place for Tulsans to fall in love with the film experience.

    Upcoming midnight movies:

    June 27 + 28: THE GOONIES

July 18 + 19: PEE-WEE'S BIG ADVENTURE (with bike giveaway thanks to G Oscar Bike Shop!)

August 25 + 26: BLADE RUNNER. (final cut)

September 26 + 27: STAR TREK II: THE WRATH OF KHAN

October 31 + November 1: HALLOWEEN + HALLOWEEN 2 horror film double feature. See BOTH films for $8 or one for $6. Yes, HALLOWEEN is a film print of the original John Carpenter version. Would we stoop to the woeful recent remake? I think not.

December 26 + 27: THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW. Our annual late night screenings of the classic. Once at Midnight on Friday and twice on Saturday--10pm and Midnight. Most props allowed...

Circle Cinema is in Tulsa, Okla. The address is 12 S. Lewis. The Circle opened in 1928 and was a beloved neighborhood theatre for many decades before falling on hard times. To combat those difficult days the theatre was briefly an adult movie and Spanish language theatre before closing its doors.

In 2004 it reopened as a non-profit foundation as a theatre hoping to restore some of its neighborhood connections and provide Tulsa with another choice on its cultural landscape.

    Who I'd like to meet:
People who love movies as we love movies.

The Circle started showing Midnight Movies in the summer of 2005 with the director's cut of DONNIE DARKO. Films that followed have been ALIEN, THE EVIL DEAD, RUN LOLA RUN, HAROLD AND MAUDE, THE BIG LEBOWSKI, EVIL DEAD 2, REPO MAN, THE WARRIORS, ERASERHEAD, JAWS, THIS IS SPINAL TAP, FERRIS BUELLER'S DAY OFF, NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD, DAWN OF THE DEAD, PLAN 9 FROM OUTER SPACE, BLUE VELVET, RUSHMORE, BRAZIL, ENTER THE DRAGON, HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH, RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK, BUFFY SING-A-LONG, ARMY OF DARKNESS, RAISING ARIZONA, MY BLOODY VALENTINE, FRIDAY THE 13TH, FLASH GORDON, ROAD WARRIOR, HEATHERS, WILD AT HEART, MONTY PYTHON AND THE HOLY GRAIL, DONNIE DARKO (theatrical cut) and the annual New Year's weekend event that is THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW.

Lose sleep...go see a midnight movie!

It’s not too late to experience Theatre Tulsa’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. William Shakespeare's masterpiece portrays the adventures of four young Athenian lovers and a group of amateur actors, their interactions with the Duke and Duchess of Athens, Theseus and Hippolyta, and with fairies who inhabit a moonlit forest.

The comedy is one of Shakespeare's most popular works for the stage and is widely performed across the world.

The show runs May 22-24 at 8 p.m. at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center—John Williams Theater. Tickets are $20. Call Tulsa PAC ticket office at (918) 596-7111 or www. myticketoffice. com.

    110 E 2nd street (2nd and Cincinnati entrance--downtown)

Here is a teaser of various scenes of the show, complied by Susan Vineyard

Enjoy, and I hope to see you at the show!
