Bio
.. The City Above began when two formerly estranged, childhood friends reunited and overcame the initial awkwardness by getting back to what had made them close to begin with: writing songs. ..Low Soul, the follow-up to the band's critically-acclaimed debut, has just been released and is available for download. ..www.iheartmusic.net.. said: "I absolutely love Low Soul...[the] songs are based 100% on talent...which, as Low Soul demonstrates, The City Above have in abundance." ..Ottawa's ..Ming Wu.. has photographed some of TCA's Ottawa shows. Here's some ..pics.. from their show opening for Halifax's Dog Day. And here are some ..shots.. of Steve & Ross, who recently played an intimate, two guitar set at Ottawa's Avant Garde Bar opening for Iceland's Sprengjuhollin. ..Chartattack.com said the first album, Mongrel Comets, is “a little gem of woozy rock, guitars that shimmer, tastes of shoegaze and even a hint of early Yo La Tengo. It's a fresh sound among the current crop of bands in Ottawa.” ....www.iheartmusic.net.. had this to say about the first record: 'If there's a flaw with Mongrel Comets, it would be its length: at 73 minutes, it seems a bit long. But in this case, it's definitely a case of showing that it's not bad to have too much of a very good thing.' The blog also called us 'one of Ottawa's must unjustly overlooked bands.' ..'Albion Road Song' from the album was included by Fateema Sayani of The Ottawa Citizen on her end of year, '10 tracks you can't miss' ..list.. on Dec. 30, '06: "Winsome, down-on-my-luck neighbourhood tale is sung to tender, tear-stained guitar rock." ..Ottawa's crack lensman and 1 gig goer Andrew Carver ..covered.. the gig we played with Daiquiri and Fucked Corpse. ..Available online at CDBaby.com: .. .......... .. .......... .... .. .. .. .. .. .. ..Bib Fortuna. Video by Andrew Carver. -

Break some legs tonight. I can't make it out, but we should turn some of those new sounds of yours into digits sometime soon.

Not sure about your message...we thank you for finding us. Quite like your sound, takes me back to "Love and Rockets" nice and atmospheric. We have similar influences in our sound. Maybe we can play a show one day if we ever find ourselves a drummer. Lil from Sedrick.
