The Civil Surfers have an knack for jumping in and out of a wide variety of genres. The band's niche is instrumental rock; more exclusively instrumental surf music. The band also dabbles in the early 60's British invasion sound (i.e. The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Herman's Hermits). Lastly, the band pays homage to the roots of rock and roll with a selection of blues tinged numbers.
Instrumental surf rock music was born and shaped in the late 1950's and early 1960's in southern California. This all-American brand of music has been a huge influence on musicians from Jimi Hendrix to Gary Hoey. Started in America, surf rock quickly became a worldwide sensation. Surf rock is currently enjoying a resurgence in popularity. On our first CD we put our own spin on some surf rock classics as well as some more recent material and our own original music. We have added a few blues tunes to showcase the bands versatility. We hope these recordings make you think of sun, surf, and happy times!
