Sooo... Clay Cook: grew up in suburban Atlanta. Went to Berklee for 2 years. Actaully did very well there... learned a lot. Dragged John Mayer to Atlanta (1998). Yeah, we played together for a little over a year under the moniker 'lo-fi masters.' After that imploded, I moved to California and swore off performing for a while. A year later I joined up with The Marshall Tucker Band (2000-2002). Quit that to chill out for a while, work on my thang, learn recording & producing, and play bass with Sugarland (2003). Over the last few years I've played with Matthew Kahler, Jennifer Daniels, Sundiver, Brian Wiltsey, and many other 'one off' gigs. In 2005 I became a member of Y-O-U. Then I got too busy (sorry guys). I split my time in 2006 between Shawn Mullins & The Marshall Tucker Band. I became a permanent guitarist/steel guitarist of The Marshall Tucker Band in 2007. 2009 brings a big change in the landscape as I joined The Zac Brown Band on guitar, mandolin, pedal steel, & Hammond organ. Oh yeah, & I made another solo record this past year. I'm real proud of it. I couldn't afford to pay anyone to play on it so I played all of the instruments myself. It's cheap to make a record when you own the studio & you play all of the instruments.
I'm also an active member of NARAS. I'm on the board of governors for the Atlanta Chapter. I'm also on the Production & Engineering Committee.

I just bought "Last Time" by Evanscapps. Evanscapps is a project put together by the late Ean Evans who played bass guitar for Lynyrd Skynyrd and Bobby Capps who is .38 Special's keyboardist. This is definitely a harder music than Skynyrd or .38 Special but it is an oustanding album. This could very well be one of the best hard rock records of the year. If only Ean could be here to reap the rewards of what this CD is going to do. His family is still here though. As a fan of Skynyrd, .38 Special and the Southern Rock community as a whole, I'm asking everyone who reads this post... please get this CD. You won't regret it and proceeds will be going to Ean's family. Ean deserves to be recognized for his musical contributions. Telling the world about this record can do that. Buy it, listen to it, tell your friends about it. "Last Time" is available at F.Y.E. Stores. May Ean Evans rest in peace and may God bless Bobby Capps as he goes forward to promote this project.
Dropping by to say hope that your week is going good for you and yours,it has been raining here but hopefully it will let up tomorrow, enjoy the rest of the week.
Though I don't know you or myself at this point in life, I would like to respond to your headline, being that I am also a musician.
I have asked that question time and time again, but I don't think that the transaction of money and music is a two way deal. Musicians express something that is outside of the music itself and in turn the listener feels the need to obtain the feelings recieved from the intrinsic expression for themselves.
Yeah you got the shows, and the reasons they pay ya for them, but the music is different.
Given the date of this message I understand that I probably sound ridiculously influenced, however unfortunately I am not and just wanted to give me two cents.
Anway, sorry to get so deep it is just that your quote inspired me... maybe I should send ya some money =)
Hey Clay, I have a new Song up called MySpace too! Come have a listen. Lyrics under Reverb Nation Player. Just wrote 10pm EST. April Fool Eve. Notice how Characterization fits the actual Tune of the song. I don't know if you ever saw my site at www.DavidWMcCraven.com where we opened for the Toy Factory in 1970. It was in Spartanburg and we were the Kings of Rock Hill,SC...lol. Thanks for continuing the Music. By the way, sign the Guest if you go there, you'll find George in there. Thanks and God Bless.
