The%20Cliff%20Blues%20Band
Quantcast We are a Blues and Funk Band based in Oak Cliff, Texas, hometown of many famous blues musicians all over the world. From Memo Gonzales, the Hero Brothers, Felix and the Cats to the Vaughan brothers and T-Bone Walker. In a smoke filled room, the lonely wail of a crunchy Fender Guitar masterfully played by Jim Kuenzer tears through the night. Behind it, Victor Cordova plays some mean rhythm guitar and isn't afraid to use a half full beer glass to play slide lead. Switching to harp and keys when the need arises, he packs a powerful punch as singer and songwriter as well. Recently freed from the 'Spree, Chris Curiel is the hardest working trumpet player in Texas, playing low growls and using an old porkpie hat for a mute. The rhythm section is anchored by drummer Dave Curiel of the famous Curiel musician clan and schooled veteran Kelly Tomlinson on bass, laying down the sultry throb that makes the blues appeal to our most primitive artistic instinct. On a hot night the band fires on all straight-eight cylinders, fueled by cheap beer, cheaper whiskey, discount cigarettes and a love for the dirty nasty grind of soulful expression. You can't play the blues until you have lived them and these guys have hauled a load of them up that mountain of life and come back down for more. Come share our pain and redemption. Know what it feels like to have the blues and to feel the ultimate love humanity has for its own.

Who I'd like to meet:

...the Doublemint twins, an insane billionaire, Roller Derby chicks, wacky inventors, an ambidextrous contortionist, any reality game show host, slimy television executives, Hollywood doormen, generous bartenders, an evil minion, a silent auctioneer, the world's worst terrorist, a cherub, a succubus, a titan, a chubby pole vaulter, Lemony Snickett, a girl busboy, two toadies, a recording engineer with time to kill, a haberdasher, a flunky, a cajun gourmet chef, The Big Cheese, a happy tow-truck driver, your mom, an incubus, an honest mechanic, a man with nine legs (he ran away!), a professional cartoonist, the 1972 Philadelphia Flyers, Mark Cuban's hairstylist, a monkey named Cecil Trickytoes, thirty Helens that agree, a small nosed belly dancing stewardess, a thin weightlifter, any Blowfish except Hootie, a contractor that returns phone calls, people who love the blues and like to come see blues musicians practicing their craft and buy them drinks all night long.
