Jehan (drums) ---------- Anthony (guitar and vocals)
Influences
60s, 70s and 90s rock. screw the 80s and the 00s. take a 71 camaro rs for a joyride on the back roads of rural america. throw in an MC5 cassette. you are now in the ballpark. now transport yourself to 1991... jesus lizard and mule are playing the blind pig... but you are out in your car drinking on the cheap. next we visit 1999... you are at an at the drive in show... and all these overnight hipsters are getting in your way... where were they in 1996? now you are ready for the clouds.
Sounds Like
90s rock... not us saying that, but people often do. and that's okay... we love 90s rock.
The Clouds brief history.
In the fall of 2001, Jehan and Anthony (ex-bandmates from Propeller) started playing music as a guitar/drums duo. By February of 2002, they had added Brandon Kierdorf on bass and started playing shows all over Michigan. After a short tour in the summer of 2002 (MI->WI->IN->TN->GA->OH->IN->MI), they recorded and released an EP of four songs titled Boys and Girls. The Clouds played many shows with their friends in Heads Will Roll, Bear Vs Shark, Inside Five Minutes, Glori5, Charlevoix and many other MI bands. By October of 2002, the original incarnation of The Clouds was finished... and Jehan and Anthony went back to playing as a two-piece.
In January of 2003, the name was changed to Rome for a Day with the addition of ex-Propeller bassist Jim Frye. Rome for a Day played from January of 2003 through June of 2005 when Jim moved to Athens, GA. During that time they played a ton of shows and released another EP titled Helmets for the King (recorded with Bob Weston at the Key Club in Benton Harbor) and a Split 10" record with Heads Will Roll that was released on Friction Records (also recorded at the Key Club, with Bill Skibbe and Jessica).
After Rome for a Day stopped playing live in June 2005 (after a blowout last show with Heads Will Roll, Bang! Bang!, Charlevoix, Paradise, Glori5 and Human Wick Effect)... it seemed as though the journey was over.
Anthony played a few solo shows... and started the FreeNoiseProject in Ypsilanti... but soon enough it was realized that Jehan and Anthony make better music together than they do apart.
After reuniting the original lineup of Jehan (Drums), Anthony (Guitar and Vocals) and Brandon (Bass) for a show with Wildcatting on Sept 22, 2006 at the Elbow Room (the unofficial home of The Clouds and Rome for a Day)... The Clouds also played another set at YpsiFest IV on December 1, 2006. Both shows were a blast, and it was good to play with Brandon a couple more times as The Clouds.
Since YpsiFest IV on December 1, 2006, we have decided to play as a two piece again. The Clouds started in the Fall of 2001 as a two piece... and we are once again a two piece band.
See you all soon.
