The Cobble Mountain Band: General Info
Member Since2/18/2008
Band MembersJohn Rough (banjo & vocals) John is a tasteful musician, having played banjo for over 30 years. He has an expansive knowledge in all banjo styles and is particularly adept at Irish and Scrugg's style playing. John provides the integral sparkle that every bluegrass band needs. John is also a powerful singer and adds a wonderful third part to the harmonies. He is an accomplished musican and luthier, restoring and building 4 or 5 string Banjo's. He has played with several regional bands, Celtic as well as Bluegrass . __________________________________________________________ Bob Flagg (guitar & vocals) Highly influenced by the Beatles, Hank Williams and rockabilly music (via his father, Bill Flagg), Bob has been playing bluegrass music for 40 years. His rythm style is tastefully syncopated, driving, unique and distinctive and adds volumes to the sound of the band. He also provides soulful singing and works with Kurt in providing the majority of vocals in the band. __________________________________________________________ Kurt Hansen (mandolin & vocals) Well known in the New England area, Kurt has gained a reputation as a terrific mandolin player and singer and has played with many regional bands over the years. His expanse of musical knowledge is broad and extensive and he is also an accomplished instrument builder. Kurt adds a level of expertise, freshness and humor to every song he plays. __________________________________________________________ Jim Colby (bass) Formally and classicly trained in music theory & harmony, violin, piano, banjo and bass since age six, Jim provides the power that drives the band. He also provides much of the arrangements and the twists and turns that make a song truly distinctive. He has been playing bluegrass since 1968 and is well-known in the bluegrass community. __________________________________________________________

How Bluegrass Are You?
Your Result: Ultimate Bluegrasser

You've been singing Flatt & Scruggs since you were in diapers. You can pick a guitar, banjo, fiddle, dobro, mandolin, and a bass (and if you can't you should!) Your custom modified camper with the banjo shaped door handles adds a nice touch. Keep it going, Bill would be proud!

   About The Cobble Mountain Band
"Cobble Mountain Band" are not your typical Bluegrass band! Hard drivin & razor-sharp rythms and rock solid bass combine to give a totally fresh, high energy sound to there unique blend of traditonal and contemporary bluegrass tunes. We’re back! After years of hiatus, we are back with a musical vengeance. We are one of the most dynamic bluegrass band’s in New England, playing crowd-pleasing originals and cover tunes such as Virginia Squires, Hot Rize, Doyle Lawson and Larry Sparks in their own energetic style. After 31 years of playing together, we have developed a unique style that blends high energy tunes with humor and expertise. Cobble Mountain feels Bluegrass should be dynamic, alive and evolving, and they infuse all there music with vigor, originalty, drive, heart, variety and professionalism. But most of all, they believe Bluegrass should be fun to play and fun to listen to. Keep your eye’s on these guys. . . they are going places. We would be excited to play for you today.
