BIO
The Colorful Quiet is the music of Stephen Webster, a singer/songwriter from St. Augustine, Florida. Though he often performs live acoustic shows, most of his efforts thus far have been focused on writing and recording, resulting in the release of 5 albums and an EP.
Webster produced and released his first official album "The Sun is Melting" in March 2006. The 9th track, "Survival", has spent over 30 weeks on the iTunes Top 100 Folk Chart (with a high of 42), has aired on NPR's Open Mic, SIRIUS radio's Dharma Cafe, was named a top 15 finalist in American Songwriter Magazine's CD Compilation Contest in September 2007, and was featured on episode 22 of The Merry Andrews Show in September 2008.
"Sounds of the Countryside", his 2nd album, was released in August 2007 and is an appropriate follow-up to "Sun". Many of the songs are a bit more 'country-folk', in part due to the enlistment of a few musician friends to play such instruments as fiddle, pedal steel and dobro.
In 2008 Webster shifted his focus to finish compiling and recording a trio of 'prequel' albums that have been in the works for quite awhile, including a lo-fi album of songs he first wrote in high school ("Elevation Is The Key To Flight"), a collection of four-track demos from his college years ("Jar Full of Pennies"), as well as the first album he ever technically tried to record back in 2001 (also on four-track, called "Numb Feeling").
Currently, Webster is working on an album called "Screams and Dreams", with plans to release it in two parts initially, then as a whole. Each half will contain 7-8 songs, some of which won't end up on the final cut of 12-13 tracks. "Screams" releases June 30th as a limited-run promo CDR available until "Dreams" comes out in September.
