The Colour is a local Sydney band with a diverse mix of musical interests that drives their musical style. The guys branded themselves after forming through chance encounters and formed friendships around the period of 2006.
Rob and Tim met at the Big Day Out whilst Gezz and Tim met at vocal classes. After playing together on a few occasions, the boys soon came to realise how well their musical abilities gelled and so the band was officially formed. Coincidently, Rob’s brother John, being a Bass Player then went on to join the The Colour once they started playing live shows.
The Colour’s unique sound is described by Tim the bands Keyboardist and Vocalist as “a varietal collage of sub-genre pop rock styles” or alternatively ‘Melodic Pop Rock’. The music is easy to relate to and melodically driven through strong vocal and symbolic lyrics that reflects the music they play.
Spending time rehearsing in the studio as well as recording their first EP “Play Extended” has taken up much of The Colour’s focus for the last year and a half. After a successful EP launch for “Play Extended” which packed out The Excelsior Hotel, Surry Hills in November 2008, it is clear that The Colour have only scratched the surface of their journey. The guys will be playing live shows extensively around Sydney for the duration of 2009.
