SURFACE UNSIGNED :
Coming together from London and Northern Ireland and led by vocalist DC Logan, The Colourcode closed the night with delirium. Logan’s voice is a scorching affair, switching between falsetto and full-blown harmony with seamless ease. Using effects pedals to add a definite echo, the entire set had a haunting, eerie quality as guitars and drums swirled with an off beat and stilted quality that had you constantly guessing where they’d go next. There was nothing formulaic here; rather they were architects of a mystifying and engrossing sound that pitched aggression against tenderness and ideas against flair.
BARFLY _ CORRUPT EVENTS : "The Colourcode were probably the biggest surprise of the night, putting out more energy in their Placebo-meets-Tool style set than an evironment-destroying 100W lightbulb"
THE BULL AND GATE : "With Charasmatic, swooping vocals and sculptural tune craft they dive from Radioheaded, pained and reaching tales to some serious Rock fever, it'll be a show you're glad you saw."
Originally formed in 2003 under the title “Manola”, these four talented and ambitious musicians have now evolved into “The ColourCode”. They began writing and gigging in and around central London and have been a long established part of the Camden scene, during which time their enthusiastic following has steadily grown. They have focused their energy on developing a series of high energy songs which draw on a wide range of musical references. The gigs are certainly not times when you can have a snooze in the audience - The ColourCode’s music wakes you up and grabs your attention, with its roaring precision rhythms, guitar riffs and vocals that sear and soothe by turns and often together. Then there are the attention demanding performances given by front man David Logan and the unified onslaught of melodic mayhem provided by guitarist Michael Patterson, bassist Iain D’costa and drummer Tom Jordan.
Building on their live experience and given a year’s rehearsal time by a supportive studio, the band have subsequently built their own recording studio to enable them to fully realise their vision for their first album. Working constantly since January 2007 in their sweat box studio, and with the outstanding help of producer Richard Matthews, an album of 12 unique songs has now been completed - with a sound that would have been expected from London’s top studios. With a new album, new name and a refocused drive to take on a rapidly changing live music scene, “The ColourCode” is here to demand your attention and in the process show you a seriously good time.
