Leeanne, Andy, Keith and Anne-Marie. The happy family.
Sounds Like
Sounds like the sort of tunes Sonic Youth used to make... A requiem to dead-end suburban lifestyles, with zigzagging drums and sharp guitar lines peppering the melodies with a Cure-tinged claustrophobia. - Metro
Obscure, feisty electro-punk... Like a couple of kids who've unwrapped a Smiths album and a Casio keyboard on Christmas morning, indulged in too much of their selection box and presented the end result to their pissed parents as they watch the Queens speech. - The Crack (Nov '06)
Crazily lo-fi... Just really great... - James Clark, BBC Radio Newcastle
The Colt .45s would probably be more at home playing in a sweaty underground warehouse at 3am. -NARC
The band blast straight into a set of electro fused shouty punk; a catchy lo-fi pop which is shining out in a stagnating indie-centric north-east scene. - The Crack (June '07)
Their short sharp electro punk is an exciting proposition. The crowd loved them as they ripped into their hits with their progressive attitude to genres and their lack of boundaries. - Badrobot.co.uk
...Like The Yeah Yeah Yeahs playing Fisher Price toys. - Cherry Bomb Disco
Ripping up the north east music scene... Not to be missed by any music lover. - Scenesters.co.uk

The Colt .45s have been creating noise, art and music together since summer 2006. Starting by recording and releasing material themselves, Colts have now recorded with several lo-fi producers and released with several DIY and Indie labels. For the first year and a half the band gigged relentlessly throughout the UK, and built a strong base in Durham and Leeds. Recently, Colts recorded a host of new songs which have developed and resolved their ethos as a band: to create abrasive songs that reflect the concepts and situations people battle with daily, often subconsciously. This may seem like a large and ethereal claim, but please be aware, after being in a band for several years and putting our characters and friendships to the test, in ways you wouldn't imagine when embarking on this journey but I'm sure every hardworking, ambitious and dedicated band member is testament to, and battling with purpose and image, we have come to realise that true creative fulfillment comes from the decommercializaition of your instinctive process and democratization of all subject matter. We use music to reflect mood and concept and lyrics to suggest stories and events.
Our newer recordings were made in a long wooden dining room, set up permanently and with boxes of odd instruments lining the walls. The versions on this page are live and unmixed. We wrote and recorded 10 songs in 2 weeks and Andrew Gardiner has done an excellent job of translating our gritty live energy onto tape. We've not decided what we're going to do with the recordings yet, but we'll make the mixed versions available to hear on myspace as we get them, and a future release on Ex Libris Records is on the cards. Certainly demos will be knocking about.

Its been selling faster than we expected, and we currently only have around a quarter of our stock left - so we thought we'd better you all know that if you want a copy then now would be a good time to pick one up! If you buy it from the link above then you're buying it direct from us, the label aren't taking a cut - so its a bit like Fair Trade for struggling musicians.
International mail-order is available, just follow the instructions.
