Movies, Music, Cartoons, Comics, Anime and other cool stuff like that.
Music
My music taste is eclectic. I like pretty much everything from Gregorian Chants to Meat Loaf. I’m a fairly big Tom Petty fan, though I’m also a fairly big Yanni Fan, Green Day fan, Beatles fan, Big Voodoo Daddy, Mazzy Star, The Cloud Room. Well, I’m just a really big fan of most music, except Hip Hop and Rap. I’m trying to open myself to it but I can’t seem to go farther than Blondie or Will Smith.
Movies
I love watching everything. Old classics, new releases, and those obscure sleepers that only a few people have enjoyed.
Television
I love watching science fiction and horror shows; it must come from watching the Twilight Zone and Dark Shadows as a kid. I enjoy some dramas and a lot of comedies, not to mention anime. But, I definitely do not watch any reality shows. That's what youtube is for.
Books
I'm a big fan of Kurt Vonnegut Jr. and Stephen King, but I'm currently chewing my way through Emerson's Essays and an F. Paul Wilson Repairman Jack novel.
Heroes
Andy Warhol, because he was a uppity and did his own thing and still made money as both a graphic and fine artist.
About me: I'm Mark Monlux, an award-winning freelance Illustrator with a couple of web comics. Most of my time I spend working for advertising and publishing firms, or other designers. You can find samples of my work at Mark Monlux Illustration If you like the cartoon movie reviews I post in this blog, you might want to check out the huge archive of them at The Comic Critic Website. You can subscribe at the blog or at the website if you want weekly updates. Let me know what you think of my other strip, The Return of Stickman!
This is an interview Electric Elliot did of me in my studio.
Who I'd like to meet: Other cartoonists, illustrators, movie buffs, and fans of comics and anime. I'd love to hear from people who think my cartoon reviews are great. And, of course, people who forgive other people who misspell.
Oh, and if you try to put an ad for someone or something other than yourself in my comments section I will block you faster than your head can spin. And I might toss it if the ad is too big, repeats, or just rubs me the wrong way. Other than that, it's cool.
