Music from the CD 'Warning, Heavy Surf Advisory' by The Concaves is Featured in the Award winning Surf Documentary 'Cowells and The New Millenium' by Santa Cruz surfer/filmmaker/author Pat Farley. The Concaves are a rock vocal and instrumental band now with two released cd's including 'Alive From The Red Triangle' along with 'Warning, Heavy Surf Advisory'. The music of The Concaves is moving, passionate, moody and upbuilding. We try to blend old school styles along with the modern techniques and sounds of the present day musician. The Concaves are not just trying to emulate a sound or create music that copies old rock or surf music, but are tryin to capture the energy of an evolving, changing sport that they love and have been immersed in all their lives, using a blend of modern day sounds, and old school warmth, soul and feel. This is one of the first modern day surf bands from Surf City Santa Cruz Nor-Cal to ever record all original songs. This music chronicles living in a small surf community that has grown to an international surf destination. It is a work by surfer-musicians who themselves have experienced the love of surfing but also has been inspired by the surfers of Santa Cruz. Hawaiian Princes brought surfing to Santa Cruz from Hawaii in the 1890's before anywhere else on the mainland. That gave Santa Cruz a very original unique distinction. The Concaves are a surf-music first for Santa Cruz as well. Santa Cruz is one of those very unique areas in that it has a large variety of surf spots condensed into a small area. It is a surfing mecca. The Concaves have written tunes and play music to celebrate the great Surf Culture that thrives here in Santa Cruz. Please enjoy our Music. You can order one of our cd's from www.cdbaby.com. Songs from the albums can be downloaded directly from itunes, cdbaby, and other sites. You can also purchase either 'Warning Heavy Surf Advisory' or 'Alive From The Red Triangle' at Streetlight Records. ...... The Concaves sound like a hard rock surf band unlike any band you have heard before. We write and perform our own original material. The result is that we aren't a copy band, but original performing artists. People ask us "who do you sound like"? We sound like the concaves. Thank you very much. ...... ....This profile was edited with ..Thomas' myspace editor™ V2.5 Music from the CD Warning, Heavy Surf Advisory by The Concaves is Featured in the Award winning Surf Documentary 'Cowells and The New Millenium' by Santa Cruz surfer/filmmaker/author Pat Farley. The Concaves of Santa Cruz with their album, Warning Heavy Surf Advisory, has added a modern sound to surf music without losing the unique identifiable traits of the genre. The sport of surfing has changed tremendously. Today, we see surfers challenging huge waves on off shore reefs, getting towed in by watercraft at surf spots such as Maverick's and Avalanche's. And surfers are going big for airborne moves; progressive longboarding combines shortboard and old school styles, and a huge increase in women surfers, who are pushing the limits of surfing as well as the men. The music of The Concaves tries to capture the excitement of today's surfing and the passion of the men and women surfers who are taking part in pushing the limits of the sport of kings. And we are doing this by blending old school styles along with the modern techniques and sounds of the present day musician. The Concaves are not just trying to emulate a sound or create music that copies the old school surf sound but are tryin to capture the energy of a evolving, changing sport that they love and have been immersed in all their lives, using a blend of modern day sounds, and old school warmth, soul and feel. This is the first surf band from Surf City Santa Cruz Nor-Cal to ever record all original songs. It is a work by surfer-musicians who themselves have experienced the love of surfing but also have been inspired by the surfers of Santa Cruz, (the real surf city U.S.A.)both male and female, who we have surfed with and watched surfing some of the best waves in the world. Hawaiian Princes brought surfing to Santa Cruz from Hawaii in the 1890's before anywhere else on the mainland. That gave Santa Cruz a very original unique distinction. The Concaves are also a surf related first for Santa Cruz as well. Santa Cruz is one of those very unique areas in that it has a large variety of surf spots condensed into a small area. It is a surfing mecca in the truest sense of the word. The members of The Concaves grew up on the beaches of Santa Cruz, surfing all of these spots. So please enjoy our surf inspired music. You can order one of our cd's from www.cdbaby.com. Songs from the album can be downloaded directly from itunes, cdbaby, and other sites. We are finishing the post production work on our next album so stay in touch for its release and availability. We have expanded our music to include vocals as well. So, the new cd will not only have the type of instrumentals that we are known for but will also feature original vocal songs as well.
