Las Consequencias es muertos
It's late fall in madison wisconsin, year 2003. A couple of meat loving, beer drinking, square smoking, weedhead punk rockers find themselves at a vegan potluck with only one other dude who drinks. They end up discussing bands, booze, drugs and the all important topic: ladies. With stomachs full of vegan burritos and cheap beer they decide to start a band.
Their names were Stan Blank and Ben Fury. Soon they got Austrian cocktail drummer Dustin Roads on board. They set up shop in Stan's basement, which they shared with a very Eric Clapton influenced jam band. Within a few practices they had a few originals and a few covers (Is this Love, Final Dance, a crappy version of a link wray song and Judy Is a Punk-ramones). This is when the newly named band, "The Consequences," began to define their sound. However, with many practices ending in a drunken red eyed haze and their drummer's never ending love for coacktail drums the band found themselves with out a drummer with their first show (opening for Detroit's "The Paybacks") only 2 months away.
They immediately set out to find a new drummer. They held auditions in the basement, marking the start and end of an era. By the end of the night they decided to go with the drummer who had a practice space and a drum set to use. His name was Tim. Later that week Stan and Ben hopped on the number 2 and set out for Madison's north side, which would later serve as the background to many a drunken rock n roll night.
Working very late into many glassy eyed nights the boys finally hammered out a punk rock set and kinda slid into a surf jam set with Tim playing guitar and Ben playing drums. This is how they would make their debut to the Madison scene one month after losing their first drummer.
Before their 2nd show they dropped the surf jam as a planned part of their set, even though it got the best response at their first show. The Consequences would go on to play many shows in Madison and only a handfull in the Green Bay area. Why so few out of town shows? Well, gas is expensice and useless if you dont have a car. So the guys would ride bikes or bus to most of their shows, keeping them in the greater isthmus area.
On March 11th 2006, after years of playing together, hundreds of bike & trailer miles, some analog recordings and a few fans, The Consequences decided to call it quits and played their last show. However, their DIY spirt and their stank will forever linger over Madison.
Yeah, thats right. We biked to our shows.
