Very well said Paul. Hopefully next time we're all in a room together again, it will be for a joyous occasion and not such a heartbreaking and sad one. N~>
Dave, you missed a great gathering of old friends today. All I could think of was that I wished that it was a party to welcome you back to town, rather than to remember you. Seeing your handwriting again brought back memories of set-lists and lyric sheets. Over the years, I've really come to appreciate your lyrics. My condolences to your family.
I had a psychic flash on or around the day Dave killed himself. I started thinking about the song I wrote for The Conspiracy called "Ameoba Man". I was trying to put Dave down in the song for his problem with addiction. One of the lyrics was "living life in the bottom of a pepsi can". He was so much better off the last time I saw him, in L.A. at a Velvet Teen show. Damn it Dave! I wish you had thought of your own lyrics, "Without someone to call your friend, you'd probably be better off dead"- and if that's really how you felt, thought of me, Josh, Dimitri, any of us from The Conspiracy. That band was Dave's idea from the beginning. I'd have been your friend again Dave! I'm really pissed he killed himself. Peace, and god rest his soul. -Madrone
Hey, Dimitri! If there is a Conspiracy reunion in 2006, and you guys need a new/another guitarist... Yo, hit me up! I mean, damn, I could move to Petaluma and transfer to the Trader Joe's over there. I'd probably do that to be in THE COOLEST SKA BAND EVER! Hey, I was the original guitarist! fuck, I gotta practice a lot I guess...
Oh the sweet memories of seeing you guys play at The Phoenix all the time back in 95/96...making fun of Headboard...haha. Didn't one of you have a problem with always swallowing his guitar picks?? Good times.
I still listen to Too Far Gone...whatever happened to you guys releasing an album after that?? With the song "Circus Circus"?? I'd love to get my hands on some!!!
I still have the green t-shirt with the horrible clown logo on the back. Periodically I wear it, and people ask me what the fuck that shirt is supposed to represent. These kids today, they don't know shit, I swear.
The best New Year's Eve celebration of my life was 96/97. And the Conspiracy was the climax of the night. I'll never forget it and I don't think I'll ever have another New Years that will top it.
