J from the BAY
J from the Bay has been a UCLAradio.com DJ since Fall 2006, but his journey begins long before that in a funky year known as 1986. Soul music has permeated every bit of my essence since I was in the womb. My love of hip hop is a close second, thanks to mi hermano mayor who put me up on LL, 2Pac, The Pharcyde and many more.
My career at UCLAradio.com began as an intern on ¡MUSIQuality! from October-December 2006, followed by hosting Hip Hop Soul from January-June 2007. Fall 2007 has seen the birth of something beautiful: the first season of The Cool Down, a show that embodies all my favorite elements of radio: slow jam hours, hot new hip hop and R&B, and entertainment news and commentary from (what I hope is) a witty host.
J from the Bay is a half-breed (Irish & Mexican, baby!) third year English major who enjoys chap stick, abbrevs and extremely brief walks on the beach.
THEME SONG
The theme alternates between Instituto Mexicano del Sonido's "LaLa Meda" and Jeremy Ellis' "Callelunakarma: Movement: 1".
