With the emergence of college and a course of events, The Corrao Q had loosened some ties. With the end of the high-school-rock-band experience, came the beginning of new individual journeys. Of course, music will always be written and played but unfortunately no longer under the name of which 60% of people can pronounce. From 2006 to the middle of 2009, was a time one will never forget because it was so formative...and also real fun.
Now, long overdue, an EP is finally coming together after some final mixing delays. We are sorry for not being there when things were slowing down. But soon, you'll have some songs you can enjoy long after the memories of having your hand stamped with a "Q" and the ringing ears of a live show have faded.
So, what is with the band name?
Joe, Steve, Sam, and original drummer, Simon, had a 7th grade science teacher, Chris Corrao. "Q" is derived from "quartet". That's the short story. (And the pronunciation is "corr-RAY-oh")
Here's a brief timeline:
The band formed in the middle of 2006.
The first gig was a victory at Moore High School's Battle of the Bands.
First of many shows headlining for Julius C was March 23, 2007.
S.I.'s Greatest Band Competition was Dec. 2007.
We competed in the Blastbeat Competition for the world finals in Ireland at the Knitting Factory in 2008.
TCQ was featured on the cover of AWE in April, 2008.
We played in the premiere SI original-rock festival, Rock the Harbor in June 2008, opened for Budos Band.
Simon resigns as original drummer and Brandon Keeks joins the band in the summer of 2008.
TCQ plays at Cake Shop, NYC Dec. 2008.
March2TheBeatOfLife's Concert at St. George Theatre March 27, 2009 was the biggest show with special guest, ex-lead singer of Journer, Steve Augeri
