"Why suffer the crowds for The Arcade Fire or LCD Soundsystem when you've got The Corto Maltese?" ---The Onion
"We are anxious to keep tabs on Corto Maltese, an Arcade Fire-meets-Wolf Parade inspired band that specializes in impressively nimble guitar playing and arrangements that most bands in this town could take a queue from." ---Austinist.com
"Uber-catchy indie-pop and relentless hooks. You'll be lucky if you leave without one of their new demo's songs playing in your brain's stereo on repeat.” ---Austinist.com
"Austinite indie rock guitar mavens” --Austin360.com
"The Corto Maltese has an adventurous sound worthy of the “rogue with a heart of gold.” The indie rockers are inevitably compared to Arcade Fire, Ben Maddox’s vocals are spot-on Win Butler, but they forgo the bevy of eccentric instruments in favor of a grungier guitar base." ---Austinist.com
"Corto Maltese . . . already gain major points for naming themselves after the '70s comic series of the same name about a swashbuckling sea captain. Formed just last year, this indie pop foursome are already building a buzz and are often compared to Arcade Fire." ---Austinist.com
"Sleek tightly wound hooks to die for, melodies that attach like limpets in your head space blessed with a humable factor to the power 10 and riffs ripped from the pixies, the loft, green on red, and the Eskimos - three track demo . . .each cut a peach." ---Losing Today Magazine
“Corto Maltese are generating lots of local buzz with their catchy, Arcade Fire-ish tunes.” ---Austinist.com
"On the strength of their just released demo and excellent live shows, The Corto Maltese have already been making waves around town. With the frenetic ruckus of the Arcade Fire and a touch of David Bowie, "Providence" is a spirited anthem that is fast becoming an early summer hit." ---Austin Sound
"Driving, moody rock" ---Austinist.com
"Corto Maltese makes the kind of music you can't help falling in love with. It's intoxicating, sophisticated, and hot damn is it ever catchy. If these are demos, I can only imagine how unbearably good an LP is going to be." ---Les Enfants Terribles: Singles Club

Too bad there isn't a Barbarianesque Drinking Den here in Austin. It would be great to choke down a greasy leg of meat with some rich mead all while listening to your music.
