14th century...
Springing from its origins within the late Middle Ages, Italy's Renaissance swarmed into the rest of Europe and stayed until the 17th century. It was in responce to a world who thought they knew all there was to know, painted all there was to paint, lived all there was to live. But the stagnation of this wrot revolution and artistic vibrancy that harolded with it an age of raw intellectual curiosity. It brought mankind into the modern era, and held some of the most brilliant mind this world has ever known.
This era represents the breaking of convention and the embrace of holding loosely onto what we think we know. It was also a dark time.
And it is in this era that we find two minstrels. He, lute upon his lap, and her strapped to his side, voice ringing. This married couple nomaticlly romes, seeking to play to royals and country folk alike, sharing the beauty and the glory of song.
M & T, so wonderful to meet you at RenFaire, I enjoyed videotaping your performance for YouTube, and look forward to sharing more music back and forth! ttfn, Drakonis
So glad you found us! Not too many of us on MYSPACE performing Dowland songs, so it's always wonderful to find other artists.
We also perform the first 3 pieces listed here (not purist, as you know, although "Flow My Tears" we follow the arrangement more closely than any of the others).
Anyway, thanks for the friendship & keep in touch!
