Sounds Like
-Abba being molested by Motley Crue, or a simmering stew of sound with herbs and spices.
How do you describe a band? Most bands have difficulty trying to describe their sound and with so many varying influences inspiring dynamic complex imaginative song structures, The Courage of Being is no exception. Formed in February of 2003 from the remnants of Moncton bands Try Again and Self-Inflicted, The Courage of Being, from day one, wanted to do something new and innovative. Most importantly they did not want to confine themselves to musical boundaries. WIth styles ranging from progressive to ambient, from punk to jazz, the minds of Phil Flowers (guitar and vocals), Mario Gautreau(bass and vocals), Marc Landry(guitar and vocals), and Pascal Raiche-Nogue(drums) are busy crafting sonic ideas, in preperations to commit these sound units to binary data. They aim to start recording their first full-length to be named "Calligraphie" in early 2007. Merging their influences of bands such as Choke, The Mars Volta, Tool and The Deftones with funk, alternative and post-rock, their first effort will undoubtfully be an interesting one.
If you have the opportunity to experience The Courage of Being live, you will witness raw energy and contrast: loud riffs followed by soft licks; screams followed by soothing harmonies; off-times and bass lines as well as unique drum work that will leave you scratching your head. Please turn on all transistor radios.
