The Coveralls started as a group of five close friends that shared a common passion for spicy food--spicy hot, not spicy spicy. Still in college, their heads were full of grandiose notions of what was possible, confusing reality with the theoretical. This blurring of what what one should do and what one should leave to late night drunken posturing led them on a high perilous adventure to the heart of Patagonia in search of a burrito stand said to use a rare mountain pepper in an incendiary melange of beans and rice and such. This pepper grew in a secret grove with roots said to reach deep into the earth. The peppers were rumored to be so hot their roots kept the planet's mantle molten.
Alas, the crew would never reach their destination. SInce food would be at their destination, they loaded their bags with all manner of alcohol spirits instead. The weight proved to be too much a burden when their tiny plane hit turbulence high over the Mexican desert plains. While they miraculously pulled off an emergency landing, it would be many moons before a traveling group of mariachis came across their makeshift shelter, riddled with empty liquor bottles and what appeared to be human bones. The kind mariachis nursed the four survivors back to health with tamales and tequila and taught them to play music as a means of earning their way back to the States.
Though they never speak of their ill-fated, vain pursuit of the Patagonia mountain pepper, nor of what had befallen the fifth man, The Coveralls continue to play music to this day as a tight-knit group of four and give remembrance at each show with raised shot glasses.
