The Craichouse Comedy Club, "The Home of Cork Comedy"
And now we are on every Sunday in the Slainte bar, Market lane, Patrick Street Cork City.
An established comedy club with an ever-evolving line-up, the Craichouse has been going strong for three years with hilarious nights of Stand-Up and high jinx in Cork.
It all began four years years ago, when Martin Henchion returned from Oz to find very little places to practice his comedy, so he and two friends met in the back room of a local drinking emporium with one goal in mind, to make people laugh (and make money).
Following successful runs in the 2005, 2006 and 2007 Kilkenny Cat Laughs Comedy Fringe Festivals, where more than 300 people filled the seats each year , The Craichouse is set to return to the festival this may 31st even bigger and better.
This Year The Craichouse comedy club is taking the unprecedented step of having 2 venues. We took this step because of the sheer volume of comedians who wanted to be a part of The Craichouse experience during the Kilkenny Cat Laughs fringe festival.
The first of our venues is The Rafter Dempsys, 4 Friary Street, Kilkenny City. Rafter Dempsey’s is just a short stroll from all the historic sights of the city. It is a bright comfortable award-winning bar with a homely log fire decorated in traditional old world style.
Our Second venue is Paris Texas, 92 High Street, Kilkenny City. A noted dining Pub of the Year 1999-2002, Paris Texas is a welcome mixture of old fashioned pub style and contemporary customer service values.
We look forward to seeing you at both of our venues!
The good people at The Craichouse also organize one open mike performance every Sunday night showcasing emerging stand-up comedians. Now with 4 years under their belts, The Craichouse continues to flourish.
With The Craichouse becoming a favorite in the Cork comedy calendar and finding a host of fans beyond the real capitol, who knows what the next few years hold. (Viva la revolution)
Who I'd like to meet: The Craichouse would like to meet any established or new comedian who would like to ply his trade in the Real capital of Ireland.
