Back in a simpler time there was no indie, no emo, no nu-rave. No post-this, post-that, post-whatever the hell else. There was just riff-laden, ballsy rock ‘n’ roll; huge songs, life-changing gigs and a whole world of noisy, gutsy fun that took people out of their dreary everyday lives and made them feel truly special. It’s from this effervescent historical well that the UK’s most charismatic young band draw their inspirations. But this is no retro pastiche, these boys are young, hungry and bringing classic rock songwriting flailing and wailing into the 21st century. It’s the Foo Fighters and AC/DC in a booze-fuelled riff showdown. It’s Tom Petty and Aerosmith in a bare-knuckle dust up over who’s got the bigger hooks. It’s U2 and Guns N’ Roses wrestling for stadium supremacy. Put simply: it’s The Crave.
This year alone The Crave have toured the UK and Europe with the likes of Shinedown, Buckcherry, Hinder, Theory Of A Deadman, Hot Leg and are about to embark upon a UK stadium tour with legends Deep Purple playing the kind of stages this band belong. The past 3 years have seen The Crave complete 3 tours of the US including shows at the Harley Davidson 105th Anniversary alongside Bruce Springsteen and the Foo Fighters, the Brit Bus tour which took them 5000 miles across the country on an English double decker bus and a headlining show at the Las Vegas Hard Rock Hotel Casino on Halloween night.
Undeterred by the music industry’s obsession with all things ‘indie’, The Crave decided to record tracks for their debut 'High' EP in Brighton. Mark Flannery (who has worked alongside acts such as Def Leppard, U2 and Depeche Mode amongst many others) saw the talent in this young band and co-produced the first tracks with frontman Ryan Burnett and mixing maestro Matt Hyde for the record over a few weeks. The Crave combine all the fantastic songwriting elements, infectious melodies, superb harmonies and huge choruses of their peers, but make it sound both thrilling and vibrant in a thoroughly modern style. The debut album is set for release January 2010.
The 'High' EP is now available on iTunes and Amazon.
