   About TheCrimeSyndicate
Check Out The Crime Syndicate -

We're looking for a rapper who's not a fuckin' sucka/wack, and a female singer. Hit me up if you're interested.

BIOGRAPHY

“I couldn’t bear the thought of guys and girls everywhere not wanting to shag to my music,” said Jim The Truth-Seeker, the mastermind behind L.A. based Hip-Hop group, The Crime Syndicate, “I used to be a rocker, but this ‘Alt-Rap’ thing makes a lot more sense.”

The Crime Syndicate boldly lingers in arenas once feared by the toughest of hip-hoppers. If you chopped Nine Inch Nails, Dr. Dre, The Barenaked Ladies, and The Black-Eyed Peas into pieces and threw them into a blender, the odd-tasting, blood-colored smoothie would taste a lot like The Crime Syndicate. Their inter-mingled genre, dubbed “Alt-Rap” blends the G-leads of speed/production of West Coast rap, the snuggle factor of R&B, the Juke-Joint feeling of Midwestern dance music, and the bite of alternative rock in one incessantly hook-ified package.

The Crime Syndicate comes from humble beginnings, starting off at a small private university in Chicago Illinois. Lead singer, Johnny K. and producer/musician/beat-maker Jim The Truth-Seeker ended up sitting next to each other in a week-long art class. The two instantly hit it off one day while Jim was fighting the flu of his life. He had passed out on his desk, and according to Johnny K. was snoring loud enough to wake the dead.

“I gave him a little shove, because he was drooling on his computer,” Johnny relates, “When I told him that he was snoring, he just said, ‘You think that’s loud, you should hear my beats!’”

After that, the two were an inseparable music machine. Jim, who had managed publicity for a few of Chicagoland’s oddest bands and performers moved to Los Angeles to work in the music biz. After enduring months of Emo and wack MC’s, Jim decided to call up Johnny K. He had been listening to “Cali Iz Active,” by the Dogg Pound, and had an idea. Johnny K. and Jim decided to start a group that would feature an MC, a Fergie-esq female singer, the smooth vocals of Johnny K., and the music, beats, and production of Jim Markunas.

“I wanted to make the music that I wanted to hear,” said Markunas, “What we came up with sounds like what would happen if you made The Black-Eyed Peas play Alternative rock, or if you made the Dogg Pound play R&B; it’s quite phat!”

What’s next for The Crime Syndicate?

“Stay Tuned to find out!” said Johnny K., “We’ll put out an album sometime in 2007-2008.”
