"Frontman Raff's voice rasps and growls like he has just smoked 100 cigarettes and eaten a large bag of gravel and the band match his intensity, building an impressive organ-led wall of sound."
BBC Coventry and Warwickshire
"I've seen The Crooks several times, but man they've changed.
Still dirty as hell and raw as an uncooked T-bone, the addition of keyboards brings a new depth and darkness to their music.
Raff is a mesmerising front man, both intimidating and affable, and his voice is taking on a new, whisky soaked richness.
Excellent stuff."

"Heads up! I've got a new favourite release from a local band.
It's the new EP from Nuneaton boys The Crooks, it's called The Roam, and it grooves and rocks and shudders and drives through your soul like a pimped up 18-wheeler being driven by the devil himself.
And it's rarely been off my CD player since.
Like Kasabian sharing a beardy kiss with Jim Morrison, before breaking off for a scrap with The Fall.
Delicious stuff.".

The Crooks were a Coventry-based band, formed in late 2005. split Septemer 2008
The Crooks quickly established themselves by playing to live audiences in London, Birmingham, York, Leicester and Coventry. The band’s prestigious support slots included The Music, Robots In Disguise, The View, Northside, The Others, Bez (Happy Mondays) and Tom Hingley (Inspiral Carpets). They headlined numerous successful shows around the Midlands, including 2 sell out shows at Bar Academy Birmingham. They also performed at the 2007 Godiva Festival.
In January 2008 The Crooks released a five track EP, What Chance Sobriety?, featuring live favourites Whiskey, Panda Eyes and Squeal. This was followed up with The Roam EP, released in August 08
To really appreciate The Crooks’ sound, their live show was the full-on experience. It was an energetic, raw, dirty and aggressive set that grabbed your attention, pummeled your ears and got your adrenalin going at full throttle.
The band went their own seperate ways in September 2008.

“…an album fizzing with fresh ideas and delights, an exhilarating musical journey .. with brilliantly original writing and inspired playing…” -- Helen Mayhew
"Every track from the rhythmic ‘NY Cab Ride’ and restless ‘4 Wheel Drive’ to the brooding ‘Mae’s Song’ has a terrific hook but it’s the way Mason switches tempo and moods that makes ALH great fun. " -- Diva Magazine
