Influences
We think Gospel Music is a calling, and pray our music is annointed. However, we feel the heroes of the past produced a Southern Gospel sound that is still being strived for today. Some of our influences are:
The Statesmen..... The Blackwoods..... Rosie Roselle..... JD Sumner..... Jake Hess..... The original gospel Oak Ridge Boys..... The Rebels..... The Rambos.
Sounds Like
We really do not sound like any other group, but our style is Southern Gospel.
The Crownsmen have been singing together since December 2004. Their first public appearance was in the Winter of 2005. However, the members of the Quartet are no strangers to Gospel Music! Billy and Sharon as well as Hubert have sung in various local groups for approximately 50 years. In fact, they sang together in a quartet in 1964 and 1965. Also, Hubert, with his son Paul and twin daughters had a family group in the late 70's and early 80's. It is ironic that these two families have teamed up after all of these years to form yet another gospel group. The Lord has blessed, and the local folks appear to appreciate their style of music and their harmony. Billy strives to have good beginnings and endings. It has served them well so far.
If you see them around your area stop by and say 'Hello!' They are always glad to make new friends. They believe: Even if you have a million friends, you still can not afford to lose a single one. God bless you and keep you safe.
